Ship on a stick. WHAT'S YOUR NUMBER?

I have one. Since I have not looked at it recently I went to my locked display cabinet to make sure it is OK. There it is gleaming in the sunlight. It is a 24 carrot, gold model of a cruise whip resting on a "V" shaped pedestal that looks like a vine. The ship has details of the funnel, radar, mast and the Carnival emblem. Under that are hundreds of hand carved windows, balconies and life boats. The ship rests on a black rectangular base with the words M.S. Tropicale proudly displayed. Under that are the words "First Award". .............................. Wow! My heart skipped a beat as I viewed the award. I made sure the lock was working and then went to check my I-pad. Only 194 days, 12 hours and 9 minutes until my next cruise and an attempt to earn the next SHIP ON A STICK.

Seven cruises, seven ships. We've won more, but after getting the first one on each cruise, we just don't claim the prize if we win at trivia. In my opinion, if we won and just gave the trophy to the runner-up, it wouldn't mean as much to them. If we just don't mention having the winning score, then the second place winner can feel like the winner!

None, but I've always wanted one.

Almost got one 1 time. I saw a guy holding one, and told him I had always wanted one. He handed me his, said he already had couple, didn't need another one. I got to hold it for about a minute, then his wife grabbed it from me, and said it was hers. Go figure. LOL

I have never won a ship on the stick. I once won a medal in trivia. They were out of ships. My wife won a slot pull championship and that is actually on the ship base. So what is your number ??

We have 22 ships on sticks, just one from each of our 22 Carnival cruises.

Pet Peeve...people who win multiple ships on sticks, not giving other people a chance. Who needs more than one per cruise?

John heal;d gives them away for begging people who idolize him. They do not know what he did to his cat. if they did they would not idolize him

Oh, please. Someone sounds jealous that John gives people gifts just for the asking.

John doesn't even have a cat. He has one dog.

If you don't like what he has to say, DON'T READ HIS POSTS!

31 SOS, 7 medals and 6 plaques from contests at the past guest party. We also have have every issue of the Capers/Fun Times/ Patter from each cruise and all of our S&S cards. They bring back such good memories and my son loves seeing them and going through the "cruise books".

We do try to limit to one per cruise, but if I get one from trivia and DH/DS gets one from a cornhole tournament we keep both :)

I have about 75 from 23 different Carnival ships, but have given away many more than that. My late wife and I did a lot of trivia. And I am sure we were resented for winning so regularly, but that is why we gave so many to the 2nd place team or an available child.

Just 1, but I'm proud of it. On my first ever cruise, they had a putt putt competition. There were a grand total of four of us competing (me/my husband, kid/his grandfather). The kid and I tied or I won by maybe one stroke, so I wrote a note on my scorecard for them to go ahead and give it to the boy. When I got back to my stateroom later, the ship was on my bed with a note that they gave one to him also.

Only one for us, but to be honest, we really don't play the trivia. This one was, what I'd call, a "fluke". Got it on an evening of a formal night, which we skipped and ate on Lido. Our original plans to go and see the adult comedy shows. Well, our scheduled stop in Grand Cayman was cancelled earlier that day due to weather, so we were unable to pick up the two comedians that were supposed to join us for the second half of the cruise. That meant there would be no comedy for the rest of the cruise. So here we are, after dinner by 9PM with time to kill and nothing to do, so we went to the casino bar since we loved their bartenders and knew there would be music. While at the bar, they did a classic rock trivia where clips of 20 songs were played and we had to name song and artist for 40 possible points, so we played. These songs that they played are the same ones we hear over and over on our Classic Rock radio station (they are very popular) AND we have all of those CD's except for the song/artist we didn't know. I never heard it. We tied with someone else but they gave each of us a plastic ship on a stick since they had a huge duffle bag filled with them. I may or may not get another one...it would depend on the circumstances.

If I ever won a piece of shiponastick, I would give it to the nearest child. Don't want any dust collectors in the house.

We do the same. I know some people really get off on the ships on sticks/medals but I would probably try equally hard for a free drink ticket or something like that.

We have a few Pride ones and I have one from the Miracle and I think 2 from the Dream. When we were on the Sunshine they were handing out medals, we were given the chance to hand in 3 medals for one ship on a stick. I thought it was a little chintzy and then thought that maybe they were running low so had to figure something out to not completely run out.

I always told my father in law that "one person's memories us another oerson's junk." In 85 years he collected lots of memories. A ship on a stick might collect dust as memories fade but they are great memory catchers to many young and old. Someday i will get one.

Zero. I did once get a free Carnival shirt, but that was because I packed all of my wife's clothes the night before dismemberment and all she had to get off the ship was her nightgown. That's a story for another day.

What a great response! That is true sportsmanship. Allowing someone else to 'win' vs. claiming the prize and then just giving it away because 'it's not worth' having. :) Kudos!

Who needs one anytime? A SOS with the price of something else will get you that something else.
