123kitties Posted July 11, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 11, 2017 Do you ever have a wait in the Luminae on the Summit? It seems like the restaurant seating is small and there are a lot of suite guests. Thanks!
Marleycruiser Posted July 11, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 11, 2017 Great question, would also like to know.... Also, any differences between Luminae and Blu?
xroadrunnerx Posted July 11, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 11, 2017 Just off the Connie - 9 day Adriatic. Only the last night was there a wait...about 20 minutes. All other times we were able to just walk in and be seated.
cruzzzinma Posted July 11, 2017 #4 Share Posted July 11, 2017 On the Summit last year there were some special quests for a couple of days and there were waits. Once they got off, it was fine. People differ in their opinions on which is better. I think Luminae is better. Food is probably similar. There are fewer quests and the tables are farther apart. The is a really a team. I think the service is better and I like that they are open for lunch on sea days.
sewon Posted July 11, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 11, 2017 We found the food in Luminae much better, and as stated above, the staff really works as a team. Service was tremendous. Sent from my iPad using Forums
CruisersTimesThree Posted July 11, 2017 #6 Share Posted July 11, 2017 We sailed the Summit last August and never had a wait. We were a table of 5 and had the same wait staff for every meal. Service and food were outstanding. Looking forward to dining there again when we board the Summit again on the 23rd.
CHEZMARYLOU Posted July 11, 2017 #7 Share Posted July 11, 2017 We've had 4 cruises in a suite since Luminae opened, one on Summit. We never had a wait of more than 5 minutes so that they could clear a table. We tend to dine at 8ish.
edgeman61 Posted July 11, 2017 #8 Share Posted July 11, 2017 We were in a Sky Suite on the Infinity last year, only once did we have to wait at Luminae (the first night) and the Maitre-d' escorted us to Qsine and "treated" us to dinner there (the food in Luminae was much better). We had more of an issue with Blu on our last cruise, several times there were significant waits. When we left Portland Maine, they had taken on Lobster for everyone on the ship, we had a wait in excess of 45 min to get a table (arrived ~8:15P were seated about 9:00P) and I'm not a big fan of lobster anyway. cruza Posted July 11, 2017 #11 Share Posted July 11, 2017 Great question, would also like to know.... Also, any differences between Luminae and Blu? We were in Aqua (Blue) June 2017, and we been told that Blu and Laminae have one kitchen and one chief in charge. Food in Blue was very good. marycruz Posted July 11, 2017 #12 Share Posted July 11, 2017 Do you ever have a wait in the Luminae on the Summit? It seems like the restaurant seating is small and there are a lot of suite guests. Thanks! I think it depends on what time you like to eat dinner. We were on Summit in May for a B2B and never had to wait for a table. We went in most nights at 6:00. By 7:00 or later it became more filled but there were still tables available.

It seems like the restaurant seating is small and there are a lot of suite guests. Thanks! We never did. We came daily around 6:00 and always had a table waiting. We usually had the same table and staff. We will be sailing on the summit again and look foward to the same level of service
Marleycruiser Posted July 12, 2017 #16 Share Posted July 12, 2017 Appreciate the feedback..... One question for clarification..... I thought since I will be in a suite, I am only allowed in Luminae and NOT blu? Would appreciate clarification on this. Thank you

You can ask your butler to make the arrangements for you, but remember that Aqua class passengers have first priority as it is their dining venue. Sent from my iPad using Forums Honestly dining in blu doesn't compare to Luminae. In addition if you prefer you can order from the main diningroom menu in Luminae. My DH is a finicky eater and luminae will customize dinner orders. Enjoy
godfreyb Posted July 12, 2017 #19 Share Posted July 12, 2017 We had to wait for 20 minutes one evening for Luminae last August on the Summit, even though we had a 'reservation'. Other times there was a short wait. Being in the food service business I was curious as to what the problem was. I realized, after observing what was going on, that although there were tables available, there was not enough wait staff to service them all. Plus, it didn't help that they have an odd system, where the maître d's have to set the table before they can bring the guests in. There were two maître d's and instead of one of them staying at the podium and the other setting tables and showing guests to their table, they both did that, which meant that there was no one at the podium, often for several minutes, resulting in a lot of confusion. Cruise To Relax Posted July 12, 2017 #20 Share Posted July 12, 2017 Just got off the Summit less than a week ago. Luminae was great. The Maitre'D was superb (Lawrence - French lady) as well as Maggie (the Sommelier), O'Neil and Paolo. We never had a wait although we did tend to eat around 6:00 PM each evening. We were later one evening and Luminae was crowded but no wait. I thinks lots of folks were trying the speciality restaurants or maybe dining in their room. This was the Independence Day cruise so we spent nights in Halifax and Boston. I know some folks spent lot of time ashore. As for Qsine - we did it and decided it is not for us. Seemed somewhat disjointed but the food was good. Love Tuscan and I splurged for one of their prime aged steaks. I will say it may have been the best steak I have every had and my wife agreed. But then I have not tasted some of the higher end steak houses in the big cities. Anyway, we really enjoyed Luminae - the staff was great
