Diamond vs. Diamond Plus

Recommended Posts

John and Laura once they are Pinnacle which is soon i understand will qualify for all the luxuries of the SL and CK without having to spend a fortune on a Star Suite.

You can spend a smaller amount for a sky class suite to enjoy sl and ck.

Thought sea must be JS.

I am used to JS,GS and OS on the other ship classes as we regularly do JS and sometimes GS on these.

I edited my post. I hit the wrong quote.

As Bob indicates, JS are Sea Class and only have access to CK for dinner providing space available. Just make reservations as soon as you board. Actually, although you don't have access to SL, they are one in the same and I have not seen anyone turned away for drinks while having dinner. Maybe others in Sea Class have seen otherwise.

GS are Sky Class and have full access to SL/CK. Many people in Star Class seldom eat in CK nor participate in SL as they have just about everything they want in the room. Their sea pass cards are black and I never saw one. Ours were plum colored.

I suggest you book a GS and try the SL/CK. You will still have access to the DL but once you go full Suite you will not go back.

Thanks for your answer.

Its not clear in the RC UK brochures which is which class but as sea class was at the bottom i guessed that must be the JS class which don't get CL access either.

This should show which staterooms are which class:

There is no CL on Oasis Class. I thought that was part of the root debate. Only DL and SL.

No slight sidetrack, just meant that on the other ship classes which only have a CL the JS unlike D+ don't have access to them.

Correct I think. JS don't have access to CL unless they are D+ or PC. On a normal ship, you have choice being D+. And as a Suite Guest, you also have access to both.

We are likely to make D+ in 2019. After we do, we might book JS except on Oasis Class where we will continue to book GS and above. If they convert the CL to SL, we will stick with GS.

JS are nice but basically just a bigger balcony cabin with a bath and nothing like a GS although you do get double points and a kettle and coffee machine in the cabin.

Have you been able to make good coffee out of that room maker? We haven't. I run out and fetch a cup for the boss in the morning . [emoji57]

I have heard talk of a fare based point system in the future. Similar to what Delta is doing with their SkyMiles program.

Nights and pts will continue to be awarded as they are today with the addition of fare based pts.

Changes are slim to none on RCL.

This change would actually help Royal and reward those customers who pay more for their cruise experience. Those that buy drink packages, book excursions through Royal, frequent Specialty Restaurants and Chefs Table, participate in brunch Galley tours, bridge tours, behind the scenes tours, book cabanas, buy prints in Park West, and play $ in the Casino. These are Royals most loyal and coveted customers.

We just got back from cruising on Vision of the Seas and you only get access to the CL if you book higher than a Jr Suite. We weren't impressed as when we booked onboard the Serenade we were told by C&A and Next Cruise we would have access to the CL and reserved seating in the theatre. DL on Vision was often crowded so we would just go the R-bar for our drinks instead.
JS never had access to the CL and priority seating in theatres unless you were D+ or higher. JS only got priority boarding, larger room, coffe maker in room, double points and access to costal kitchen for dinner on shups with coastal kitchen.

Very true, many D+ feel it is a demotion on Oasis class when on other class ships we can share the suite lounge which is called CL on them but not on Oasis class when they call it SL.

Who cares! If you're so upset about not being allowed in the SL on Oasis class ships, don't go, book a GS or above, try another ship or try another cruise line for gods sake. Get over it, RCL rules and they can make, break or change the rules as they see fit.

No it tasted horrible.

I use the kettle though and get a selection of tea bags and hot chocolate satchets.

Can't argue that, these folks are coveted by RCL.
