Brickell Restaurant Recommendations & Stuff To Do

Now that we’ve got our hotel squared away I’m started to try to plan our day in Miami before we cruise. Not really plan but more or less do some research & get some ideas.

We’re a group of 6, thirty something friends who like to have a good time and just relax. This is our biennial Friendcation that we use to catch up on life. We’ve been friends since elementary school & all live in different places so this is our adult time.

So, what are some of your restaurant recommendations in the Brickell area & if there’s something you have to do when you go to Miami, tell me about it! We’ve never been to Miami so we’re clueless & I know CC always points me in the right direction!

You have lots of options for dining.

We often go to Pericone's for dinner which is an Italian Restaurant off Brickell near Mary Brickell Village. Web site is:

http://www.perricones.com

We enjoy seafood and often get their sea food specials or regular dishes but they have a wide range of items.

If you want something a little more upscale we enjoy Truluck's which is on Brickell Avenue. Terrific food and a nice happy hour and bar as well to first enjoy a drink before being seated at your table. They take reservations.

There is a restaurant in the Conrad Hilton which is also on Brickell and it is called Atrio Restaurant and it serves continental cuisine and from there you can enjoy spectacular views of Miami. It's a nice place and if you go to http://www.restaurant.com you can purchase a discount coupon which for your group would provide some good value If you also do a google search you can use a discount code to get the coupon at a much lower price.

Information on the restaurant and they also take reservations.

There are hundreds of restaurants in Miami and lots of choices on or near Brickell.

You're in Miami, so I would suggest seafood of Latin American if you want the best Miami has to offer. For Latin American food in the Brickell/Downtown area

Ceviche 105

Pollo Y Jarras: one of my favorite places but its pretty casual place),

Miami River Oyster Bar,

Trulicks its a chain but a very small chain and its a great upscale place, also has good steak.

Havana 1957: Its a chain, but its pretty good Cuban food and the best place for dinner in Downtown/Brickell for Cuban food that I can think of. I find it to be better than the famous Versailles restaurant.

Naeo, which is up scale

La Mar by Gaston Acurio also up scale

Bazzar Mar by Jose Andres up scale.

Perricones suggested by Keith is a great spot as well.

In the end the dinning options are endless, a little bit more guidance on what you want out of dinner would help. Also is it just dinner or also lunch too?

If you have a full day in Miami and haven't seen the area before, you might too want to do the hop on hop off bus tour. That way you'd at least get to see the South Beach/Miami Beach area too. You can jump off there for a stroll and drink. ( you aren't far via cab or uber too)

Brickell will be a lot of fun for your age group. I'm older, but the majority of my friends are in their early 30's here in Brickell which is where I live.

As far as dining goes, you have already been given a few recommendations. What are you looking for as far as price point or cuisine? Are you looking for fun and trendy? If so, it will be a bit different than some of the places already mentioned. Any place over at Brickell Citi Centre is also hot right now and lots of fun on the weekend. River Oyster is jamming on Friday nights. The happy hour gets packed at the bar and you seriously need to be there before 5 or there will be zero seats.

For later in the evening for drinks here are a few places in the area. Batch GastroPub is fun. Fado's at Mary Brickell should be having something going on. The new bar Craftsman will have live music on Friday nights starting at 10. Blue Martini there will be packed on Friday nights and also later Saturday nights. Sugar at the East Hotel up on the roof is a great spot. Blackbird Ordinary has a great happy hour and will be fun at night. American Social is another spot. Komondo is a hot spot. Zuma has a great happy hour. Dolores but you can call me Lolita will be hopping outside as well as inside. My friend owns So Cal Cantina which is there, GREAT cocktails. He actually made some of the drinks for Tobacco Road on the NCL ship.

River Oyster does have a great selection. One of my friends is a cook there and was showing me pictures of the amounts of oysters they have in the back, they go through so many. There will be around 8 different kinds each night. From 4:30 to 7:30 they are half price and there are drink specials.

One of the best seafood restaurants in Miami is Bazaar Mar at the SLS.

PM Fish & Steakhouse is great. Trulucks is great. Marion is another great place with seafood and other things.

Forgot to add that Toscana Divino is another great restaurant in Mary Brickell. It's Italian but they also have plenty of seafood that is fantastic.

Does Sugar get particular about who they let in after a certain time? I heard security gets picky after 9. ?

They do depending on the night. They don't like woman wearing flat shoes, that much I can tell you!

As you live in Brickell, are there any places you recommend we should visit/must sees with the teens, or anywhere we should avoid? Obviously, I’m not referring to nightclubs :D.

Lots to do around the area. Some may be more outside of the Brickell area but are a short trolley, bus, metro mover, Uber or taxi away.

Walking down Lincoln Road or Ocean Drive over in South Beach is a nice way to spend some time.

The new Frost Science Museum in downtown is great.

https://www.frostscience.org

Beaches over in south beach or over on Key Biscayne or great.

http://www.miamibeachfl.gov/parksandrecreation/scroll.aspx?id=57993 is a great beach over near South Beach.

https://www.floridastateparks.org/park/Cape-Florida is a GREAT beach over on Key Biscayne. You can also rent bikes here.

Tourists love Bayside Marketplace and there are fast boat rides from there and a bunch of other stuff as well as restaurants.

http://www.baysidemarketplace.com

If it's during basketball season, take in a Heat Game at night over at the AA Arena which is very close.

Brickell Citi Centre is a great place to walk around, shop and dine.

http://brickellcitycentre.com

There are also hop on, hop off buses, tours of the everglades and other things.

Lots of great restaurants in the Brickell area. Would be helpful to know what cuisine you prefer.

As far as where to avoid with the teens, not much around here until late at night. We don't have as many nightclubs in the area though some of the bars will get more crowded around the 10 pm time frame.
