Will Ovation of The Seas go in for dry dock before Alaska?

Recommended Posts

Just curious is the ship will undergo any refurbishing/redecorating before transitioning over to Seattle/Alaska.

Thanks!

Just got off the beautiful ovation of the seas Jan 10 from Sydney. Nothing overly Asian. Chief Chef was Australian. Menu had Australian items and Italian type of choices. Signs onboard did have Chinese Characters below the English Words. Entertainers were from Australia. Fitness trainers were Australian and from New Zealand. Comedy acts from Sydney. Waitstaff and room stewards from India Indonesia Philippians etc... The staff onboard told me that when Ovation departs from an Asian city (Shanghai-Singapore) the ship brings on more Mandarin speaking staff , menu is more Asian themed, chief Entertainment staff speaks Mandarin as well as English to translate for the guests. The guest entertainers may be from Asia too. I would think the staff & menu gets a change over when it sails out of Seattle -Alaska to meet the guests expectations on the west coast. I have sailed on the giant Oasis of the Seas and the Ovation is smaller all over. The live acts on the Ovation is less impressive compared to RC Oasis of the Seas. The overall best in all categories imo is still the Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship. Cheers !

I was wondering if they would have to de-asianize her.

I went on her very first sailing.

Apart from signage being in both languages there really wasn’t anything very Asian about her I felt. She was beautiful!

The elevator pictures are glamorous ladies instead of the funky animal shots you have on her two sisters.

No. Kung fu Panda Noodle thing was replaced by a fish and chips shop that's all and that happened ages ago. They might change be changing signage, though it's not really worth their while.

There’s nothing to de-asianise .

we were on here in February and couldn’t see any Asian influence.

Here in Australia we speak English,we eat junk food and drink beer.

Don’t worry, you will feel at home.

Did they change the Kung Fu Noodle bar back to a Johnny Rockets. We are on her April 2020 for the transpacific.  Glad to hear you speak English. Had a heck of a time understanding the Scotts, they think they speak English.

It’s a fish and chips shop now.

Those Scott’s are a worry and some of the kiwis aren’t far behind them.

Sorry I don’t gamble and don’t go to the scrap room.

To me they are  both a waste of valuable drinking time 🍸🍺🥂🥃🍻

Have a beer and change the subject.  I can get a great deal at the Marriott Circle Cay if I book now for a stay in April 2020.  About $110.00 US. total per night. Any reason to not book the hotel. It looks like a great area.

Where is this? I don't know where the old noodle shop was, but I was looking at the deck plan and I don't see anything that sounds like a fish and chips shop.

Good hotel, about 10 minute stroll from the Overseas Passenger Terminal. Good price too, I’d book it.

Look for Kung Fu Panda on the deck plan.

Kung Fu Panda is not shown on the current deck plans either (unless I am just missing it, which is admittedly very possible). That's why I asked where it is, so I could see what the deck plan does show. I did just notice an unlabeled area with the restaurant icon on Deck 14 by the Splashaway Bay, though.
