klhage89 Posted January 12, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2018 Sailing with Carnival out of Fort Lauderdale 1st week of March. After disembarking, we are taking the Everglades tour offered by Carnival that will take us to the airport after sightseeing. Our plane does not leave until 9pm that night. Any suggestions of what to do for a family of 6 adults and what to do with luggage. Thank you!

capriccio Posted January 12, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 12, 2018 Most airlines will not take your baggage that early so I suggest storing it at Bags to Go (http://www.bagstogo.net) located in every terminal and then spending the rest of the afternoon/early evening in Fort Lauderdale. On weekends there is a free trolley from/to the airport - check out the airport link at http://www.suntrolley.com. i think the last return trip will be too early for you so I would plan on taking a taxi or Uber back to the airport. For info on what to do around Las Olas Blvd (downtown) see http://www.lasolasboulevard.com. For more info on Fort Lauderdale attractions, see http://www.sunny.org. Ashland Posted January 12, 2018 #5 Share Posted January 12, 2018 Rent a car and forget about booking the everglades tour through the cruise ship...Book it yourself and do this on your timeframe as well as anything else you want to do before returning the car and arriving at the airport no earlier than 2 hours prior to your departure flight. Rare Keith1010 Posted January 12, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 12, 2018 I would rent a car. Keith
cb at sea Posted January 12, 2018 #7 Share Posted January 12, 2018 I would book a day room at a hotel...you'll have about 12 hours to kill before your flight....that's way too much time to just drive around with 6 people and luggage stuffed in a vehicle. A day room will give you a place "to be", with pool, restaurant, tv, bathroom....a place to "chill"...compare the cost of that to changing to an earlier flight. You can easily make a flight around 11am.
jdvmd Posted January 12, 2018 #8 Share Posted January 12, 2018 Rent car, book a day room at hotel/resort, go to Sawgrass Milles, book your own excursion to the Everglades.
paul929207 Posted January 12, 2018 #9 Share Posted January 12, 2018 Some cruise lines offer to take your checked luggage to the airport for you. You put it out the last night and don't see it until you reach baggage claim at your home airport. Princess charges $25 pp plus the airline baggage fees. Mike_DeA Posted January 12, 2018 #10 Share Posted January 12, 2018 Rent a car, there is plenty to do. In addition to what was already mentioned, Miami is a short drive away. There are casinos not far from the port as well.
zqvol Posted January 12, 2018 #11 Share Posted January 12, 2018 look for a hotel day pass. there are many web sites that offer them. You can check in when you get off the ship and usually have to leave by 6:00.
