LewLewBelle Posted June 7, 2018 #26 Share Posted June 7, 2018 FYI Royal charges for night room service too. I don’t agree with it for either cruise line! Last year on Conquest I ordered something can’t remember now what it was but I remember it was not good and we didn’t eat much of it.

Davey Wavey Posted June 7, 2018 #30 Share Posted June 7, 2018 While I don't like extra charges, I had no problem agreeing with this one. When you see entire meals stacked in the hallways at night barely touched, it is one of the worst displays of waste and that's saying alot on a cruise ship. Buffalo wings and fries and cups of ice for my carry-on beverages after the late night casino is good stuff. FYI, the usual breakfast stuff is still available. They still have those same door hangars to order breakfast.

My last cruise I saw a family sit down to eat lunch, and each kid had a chocolate milk. When they left, all the chocolate milks were open but were all mostly full. Kids would spend 2 minutes at the ice cream machine, throwing away perfectly good ice cream cones if they didn't come out perfect. That's just one example. We all have seen things like this on our cruises. I personally felt like limiting items after night would have been a better way to go, or instituting a flat service fee or something like that. My point of contention is when I booked my cruise, 24/7 free room service was advertised and was "built into" the price I paid. When I arrived, that wasn't the case. Lesson learned, I won't book cruises a year out anymore since I don't know what else I'll pay for that they'll decide to cancel later on without warning or recompense. skiingj Posted June 30, 2018 #34 Share Posted June 30, 2018 Wow, lots of fee based items. Complimentary items are very boring. All the decent stuff is now for a fee. I thought Carnival didn't' nickel and dime. I guess you could always walk up to lido. Standing in the pizza line for an hour doesn't sound appealing. Treyatl2006 Posted July 13, 2018 #35 Share Posted July 13, 2018 I just got off the Magic.... I tried several items from room service. Theres two room service menus. They had the menu that was posted here and they had a breakfast hanger menu. The hanger menu have to be placed outside you door the night before in order to get your breakfast. Room service breakfast consist of mainly cereal, fruits, breads and etc. (No eggs, bacon, waffles and etc)... Here's what I tried over our 7 day cruise. Rating is on a scale 1 to 5. Wings ... (4) Very Good BLT ... 2 (Bad) Chicken Tender (3.5) Good Banana Split (4) Very Good Chocolate Cake (4.5) Great Cheese Cake (5) Excellent Fries (3) Avg Philly Cheese Cake (3.5) Good I didn't try the grilled cheese but my neice and nephew kept ordering it so it must have been good.

Try ordering any of those items in any hotel room service and you will pay 10x's the amount. And, I am always surprised that people can afford a cruise for a family, but can't afford the minor cost of a few items for room service?
nessz79 Posted July 29, 2018 #37 Share Posted July 29, 2018 Another positive about this is you don't hear room service knocking on your neighbors' doors late at night.
USNUZULOOSE Posted July 30, 2018 #38 Share Posted July 30, 2018 The donut burger is just that a burger with the donut as the bun. They make them at our state fair.
Rare BlerkOne Posted July 30, 2018 #39 Share Posted July 30, 2018 I'm wondering the same thing. We were on the Conquest over Thanksgiving and they still offered a late night menu with free items, but it looks like that's going away? There is still a food station with Late Night Eats from 11:30-1 +/-. If the ship has the latest menu, choices include soup, pasta, sandwiches, cookies. skyeman27 Posted October 8, 2018 #48 Share Posted October 8, 2018 [/color] And, I am always surprised that people can afford a cruise for a family, but can't afford the minor cost of a few items for room service? I am not surprised, the cost may not be affordable for some people and some families that were barely able to save enough money for the cruise and some money for excursions for the kids. You, the queen Kathryn, are fortunate enough to be able to bear the minor cost...

Apparently, too many people were wasting food that was ordered through room service at night. So, in an effort to reduce (or eliminate) wasting, Carnival is charging for items ordered from room service between 10:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m. This is true. Plus, there was the trend of ordering EVERYTHING on the free menu and video taping it for YouTube for laughs and views.
