blarko Posted February 5, 2018 #51 Share Posted February 5, 2018 Do you have to be a member? I have looked and looked on the AARP website but can't see Carnival gift cards. You do not have to be a member. I am not a member. You just signup for the Rewards for Good program. That’s the section you will find the gift cards under. You will need to take a few quizzes to earn some points (the quizzes are free), as each gift card requires 100 points per $100 (500 points for the $500 cards) in addition to the cost. Schoifmom Posted February 5, 2018 #53 Share Posted February 5, 2018 Here is a Gift Card Warning!! My daughter is a Disney travel planner. She applied a clients gift cards to their upcoming cruise. Last February they had to cancel that cruise. She requested a refund of the gift card. In the meantime, they bought another gift card. So when they booked their next cruise she applied the new gift card to the new cruise. Unfortunately, in December, they had to cancel that cruise, scheduled for April 2018, also. Family emergencies do happen. Both of these cruises were cancelled prior to the final payment due date. She requested a gift card refund. No response for EITHER gift card. Basically, Carnival has almost $700 of their money!! When she called Carnival about it she was told that the Carnival "gift card research" can only be reached by email!! She has emailed weekly since mid December and they have never responded!! She called again and requested to speak to a supervisor and was told again, that they have no way to contact the gift card re-issue department. So my WARNING is this: Save your gift cards, whether physical or ecards, and apply them to your sail and sign account AFTER you are on board. DO NOT use them prior to traveling just in case you have to cancel. And if any of you have any phone numbers, contacts, etc. that you know of to help with this situation please let me know. I just used my AARP ecards on my Miracle cruise that we just got off on Saturday and it was handled very efficiently. Best way to go and to save some money also!! This person also started a thread. I think the responses there are spot on. It is likely that the booked ES and will not be receiving refunded GC, but have a FCC. Pops, Esq. Posted February 5, 2018 #55 Share Posted February 5, 2018 Has anyone ever had unused gift card monies at the end? What happens to the leftover? Does it go back on the gift card and can be used next cruise? Or do you lose it?Thanks When we last sailed, I had a substantial balance in gift cards on my account. I cashed out most through the casino. (The only time I actually went in the casino). It's pretty easy to do. Even though I was told I would get the balance returned on a gift card, I got a check from Carnival with the balance (less than $50) a few weeks after sailing. Crazy4Camping Posted February 6, 2018 #57 Share Posted February 6, 2018 Do you have to be a member? I have looked and looked on the AARP website but can't see Carnival gift cards. No you don't have to be a member but if you are, you get more points. Go in and register in Rewards for Good program. After that they give you options on ways to increase your points and lists of what you can spend the points on. Like all rewards programs, you need alot of points to get stuff. Like to get the 10% off gift card, you need to spend 1,000 points.
Georgie562 Posted April 24, 2018 #58 Share Posted April 24, 2018 Hello, So If I'm reading correctly, the Gift Cards can be added to your S&S account through the kiosk? I doesn't have to be through guest services?
Drazil65 Posted April 24, 2018 #59 Share Posted April 24, 2018 When we sailed a couple of weeks ago on the Magic, they took and applied my GC's when we checked in for our S&S acct. They loaded them right at the check in desk before we even boarded the ship. We had a cash account and just gave them the GC's as I have done for the last several cruises. Bookster99 Posted April 24, 2018 #61 Share Posted April 24, 2018 Yes we pay our entire cruise balance and all of our on-board spending with gift cards. We buy the discounted gift cards to save the money. It's nice to save $500'ish per cruise just by buying the discounted gift cards. We are getting discounted cards from AARP. Any other sources? nutterbutter818 Posted April 24, 2018 #62 Share Posted April 24, 2018 Our two younger kids decided to go on the cruise and we did so using AARP gift cards. Saved over $200 that way. Then I ordered more to cover our meals at the Steak House and whatever else we decide to do. I was planning on doing the same with a cruise we have scheduled next year on RCI but I hear it is a real hassle so I may not bother with it. travelbug4 Posted April 24, 2018 #63 Share Posted April 24, 2018 Super easy, we just used some last week and applied it to the S&S account once onboard at guest services. We actually got our gift cards through American Express and purchased them with points.

I doesn't have to be through guest services? Yes, they can be. You can also only apply the amount you want. Guest services will apply the whole gift card amount. Organized Chaos Posted April 25, 2018 #65 Share Posted April 25, 2018 We are getting discounted cards from AARP. Any other sources?Allstate insurance has a similar rewards program and you don't have to be an Allstate customer. You have to sign up for their Drivewise (smartphone app) service. You can do that here (be sure to choose "Non-Customers" if you aren't one: https://www.allstate.com/drive-wise.aspx
Katie62 Posted April 26, 2018 #66 Share Posted April 26, 2018 We had ours applied at Guest Services....no problem whatsoever. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Hogladyrider Posted April 26, 2018 #67 Share Posted April 26, 2018 Use them all the time, have guest services apply them as needed. Each $100 gift card is like getting $10 free for us. $50 free if using a $500 gift card. Good plus is the Carnival gift cards have no expiration date. TechHoney Posted April 27, 2018 #68 Share Posted April 27, 2018 We just applied two $100 gift cards and the remaining $30 on another one on the Liberty.
teague38 Posted April 27, 2018 #69 Share Posted April 27, 2018 I just bought cruise cash with mine before we left so I didn't have to go to guest services or kiosk. Only thing with cruise cash if you don't use it all you lose it but I didn't have that problem. lol. As with everything else people say there are ways around that to like going to casino ans cashing out. I didn't have any left so I don't know if that actually works or not. Crazy4Camping Posted August 21, 2018 #70 Share Posted August 21, 2018 How do you apply gift cards to S&S online??
bury me at sea Posted August 21, 2018 #71 Share Posted August 21, 2018 How do you apply gift cards to S&S online?? You can apply them on-board, not on- line. If you want as much as possible applied ahead of time use them to buy cruise cash on-line. Cruise cash is non-refundable, so don't buy more than you are certain to use. It's painless and quick to hand them to Guest Services and have them applied immediately. That way any unspent money, over ten dollars, is refundable before debarking.
