Heatherco Posted February 11, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 11, 2018 Is this across the board? Wish they still had them. Is it to cut down on lines?
davekathy Posted February 11, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 11, 2018 (edited) Is this across the board? Wish they still had them. Is it to cut down on lines? Haven't seen trays in the WJ for years. If you want a tray order room service and keep the tray. Edited February 11, 2018 by davekathy
TwizzlersAddict Posted February 11, 2018 #3 Share Posted February 11, 2018 Sure it’s done to cut down on the amount of food people can carry, which cuts down on waste.
Clarea Posted February 11, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 11, 2018 Is this across the board? Wish they still had them. Is it to cut down on lines? I've not seen a tray in Windjammer for at least the last 10 years.
Tatka Posted February 11, 2018 #5 Share Posted February 11, 2018 Is this across the board? Wish they still had them. Is it to cut down on lines? We sail with 8 lines and trays aren’t used for a very long time. At least for 5-7 years, maybe longer. Recently even Cunard switched to trayless buffet. Talex831 Posted February 11, 2018 #6 Share Posted February 11, 2018 Keeping a room service tray is actually not a bad idea for when you’re trying to fill your and your kid’s plates at the same time! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
gerif Posted February 11, 2018 #7 Share Posted February 11, 2018 Or just take a cheap plastic tray with you. Doesn’t take but a bit of room in your suitcase.
Grandma Dazzles Posted February 11, 2018 #8 Share Posted February 11, 2018 Heard this question answered by food and beverage manager. He indicated it was because trays had to be washed and sanitized just like dishes. By eliminating a huge number of them, and just using as room service and serving trays, it was a tremendous savings of both manpower, energy, etc. Made sense to me. I agree that if you really want one just keep a room service tray, bring your own, or ask for one (probably available but not just stacked in plain sight). S&C2 Posted February 11, 2018 #9 Share Posted February 11, 2018 We have been sailing Royal for the last 16 years. Never had a tray in Windjammer.
cb at sea Posted February 11, 2018 #10 Share Posted February 11, 2018 It also cuts down on folks taking everything they see, and wasting most of it!
accio_7 Posted February 11, 2018 #11 Share Posted February 11, 2018 We sail with 8 lines and trays aren’t used for a very long time. At least for 5-7 years, maybe longer. Recently even Cunard switched to trayless buffet. We sail with Disney and, on our March 2017 cruise on the Magic, trays were available in their buffet restaurant Cabanas. I haven’t sailed with Royal in 10 years, so this is good info to know for my upcoming cruises on Adventure and Harmony.
