Mitsugirly is finally sailing with RC again!

Do you play slots or tables? I don’t play slots but I think u can use your card. I think I’ve heard people comment that you have to do at least one spin once loading before cashing out to not incur a charge.

At the tables you can use cash. They charge 5% at the tables to get cash if u r not a VIP.

LOL Kim...do you remember when we booked, one I the first things that I said to you after I looked at the ships amenities was "I think I'm gonna lose a lot of weight on this cruise"? From reading this thread, I guess that is confirmed.

I came on this site to look around for info about times that the kids club is open on port days. I still haven't gotten an answer :(. Maybe I'll just make my own thread.

Kia, I take it you got my phone call message. :D

I'm trying to look up info for you too. The only thing I have found is:

Babysitting is offered both in a group setting, and individually in your stateroom. In stateroom babysitting must be reserved through the Guest Relations Desk (Purser's Desk) at least 24 hours in advance.

It cannot be reserved prior to the cruise vacation and there is no guarantee that sitters will be available. The service is offered between 8:00 am and 2:00 am when personnel is available. Sitters will be assigned on a first come first served basis.

Children MUST be at least 1 year old. Approximate Rate: $19 per hour for up to three children within the same family. Times and prices are subject to change without notice. Payment will be made using your onboard SeaPass card.

yes ma'am. I called you back and left you a message :)

OK, well then Michaela and I are in. I figure if Xander can't go to the kids club then it would be about $100-$120 for the babysitting. I don't want to do that mostly because it won't be much fun for him....but at least its a back-up plan.

Oh no :( Thanks for that info Shanleigh. I am used to NCL and CCL where they are open all day on port days. Bummer. I wonder if I could send him to the kids club and then have babysitting services pick him up there at noon and drop him back off to the kids club at 2. He would much prefer to be in the club than have a sitter. Ugh, this is more difficult than I was expecting.

And Kim, I hope Kendra and Brayden can come! But I am not exaggerating when I say that our airfare was more expensive than the actual cruise.

I haven't been on your itinerary or ship but on Freedom the kids club was open on port days from early until about 5pm straight with no break for lunch. They called it a Portday session. I can't remember what time we were in port but it opened at 7:30, 9 or 6:30 (I assume about 30 minutes before we docked but I can't really remember!). There is a note that at lunch your kids will enjoy lunch free of charge at noon in the Windjammer with their friends and youth staff.

It has been a few years since my kid used the club but in my experience RCL has different hours on port days. I know they used to request if u were staying on the ship that u still pick them up as if it was a sea day. Did this really change? I find it surprising that they would have those hours on port days.

I just called RC and they told me that YES they are available for sitting while parents go on excursions in port. They said you just have to sign up with them once you get on the ship (there will be a sign up sheet) and it's on a first come first serve basis. I told them their site doesn't really mention "port" days for sitting and she said yes, it's those days as well so that parents can enjoy excursions that the little ones can't go on. :)

It's not looking too good for her at the moment. She's trying to get her house built and moved in soon and she's trying to prioritze :') We all know how hard that is for Kendra. LOL Thank goodness for free air is all I can say.

Great...thanks so much! Sounds like between the kids club and sitting, we're covered. I'm headed out now but please send me whatever info I need so that I can book and I'll take care of it :)

Wow, good for Kendra buying a home! And, yes you very lucky that you get to fly for free. I'm jealous;p

The Jewel of the Seas does not have the ice rink.

The port times kids club hours vary with port times, but usually it was the same/similar to 9-12, 2-5, 7-10pm: Usually port days was the adventure dinning and it was free on my ship, but you had to sign up in advance. (This was a Europe Itinerary so may be different than caribbean.)

For school I worked on a dissertation with Voom, one device package. Once it stopped working for a few hours so, I recommend doing any work With timelines a day or two ahead. I loved working in a quiet bar or lounge with a sea view. It takes the sting out of school work on vacation.

My only problem is that we can't work ahead. We don't get our homework until very late on Sunday evening/Monday morning and our test is due on Tuesday. Of course we have to allow for listening to the lectures, reading the chapters associated with that from 2 books, which usually take up that day and part of the next. This is the only class where we didn't have our assignments ahead of time where we could work ahead and the actual test on a Tuesday instead of by the end of the week. :(

My wife will be doing homework as well on this trip. Are you studying for Nurse type education?

Do you want to say where you are going?

2 weeks from today!

ANOTHER QUESTION....

What time is all aboard in port? I'm sail away is 5pm, what time do they want you on board by?

First embark you MUST be on 90 minutes prior to sailing. I want to say in ports it is 30 minutes prior. Someone please correct me if this is wrong.

Docked ports are typically 30 minutes before departure. Check the sign usually at the bottom of the gangway.

Tendered ports vary and are usually specified as "last tender time".

I'm wondering about while in port. Thank you for the answers. :)

The reason I'm asking is that we want to do an excursion with Big Beards to Buck Island. They have the option of doing 1/2 day (coming back at 12:30pm) or full day (coming back at 3:30pm). They CLAIM that they will have taxi's waiting to zoom us off to the port, which they say is a 30 minute ride, which would put us there at 4pm IF there are no problems/traffic and so on.

SO.... I'm trying to figure out if this is "wise" ;por should we just do the 1/2 day. :(

Looking forward to another one of your reviews, Kim! This one will be especially helpful as my wife and I are loyal NCL cruisers and thinking about a Royal ship this summer. When will you be sailing?

We are headed out in 13 days, 12 hours, 53 minutes and 35 seconds...but I'm not counting or anything. :p

Hi Kim- looking forward to following along when you post your review! We are just off Harmony, and Adventure Ocean will be open all day during port- they will feed the kids lunch and dinner and you don’t have to pay for it like on NCL. Their hours during sea days are 9-12, 2-5, 7-10 and then late night after 10 for I think $7/hour.

The late night dining is as bad as others have said, so plan accordingly. Sorrento’s pizza is nasty, too. Room service is $7.95 and Johnny Rockets is just under $12 per person FYI.

Another question...

How does the casino work? I love the way CCL works with just using your room card and then it keeps everything separate and NCL makes you put money in.

Slots is what I'm looking for.

We got off track with talking about kids club info and I don't think I ever got a direct answer on this.

Do I need to bring actual cash for the slots? Or do I use my room key, which charges my on board charges, for playing and keeps track of it separate from the actual room charges?
