What would you choose?

I am currently looking at cruises for Spring Break 2019, and don't know what to book. I know I want to go to the Caribbean, want at least 6 days, but I don't know what else. What ship, what itinerary, and why? FYI, we are first-time cruisers.

Vague thread. Would list options before posting as itineraries vary by week.

Yes...Please provide us some more detail.... Cruises to the Caribbean (including the Bahamas) depart from Texas, Louisiana, and 4 ports in Florida. Cruises to just the Bahamas sail from several states on the Eastern Seaboard....

If you're a new cruiser, I have to say, there is probably no bad destination in the Caribbean for you. There are some ports that are better than others, and some ports, people are just plain tired of.

I agree with others that at least something else to go off of would be helpful. What's your comfort level in the areas that you want to go to? Do you want to feel like you could be in the United States but not be? Or do you want to get a sense of life in a third world country? You will find both extremes in the Caribbean, and everything in between. Do you want a relaxing vacation or do you want to be doing things? Are you more into beaches and water sports, or more into cultural immersion (as much as you can get on a cruise) and history?

People can give you their favorite islands and ships, but they might be for you.

Do you want a large ship with lots of amenities? Or a smaller, more intimate ship? Do you want the newest features on the ships?

As a new cruiser, there is a lot to keep in mind, which is why almost anything would be fine for you since it will all be new.

I would choose at least 7 days, a ship with Guys burgers and a serenity deck, and an Eastern or southern Itinerary. All my favorites. Happy planning!

For your first cruise, your best bet would be to go talk to a cruise specialist in your area. He / she will try to match you up with a cruise (and ship) that best suits what you're interested in. Those of us that have been on several cruises and several different ships will all have our favorites, as well as those places we'd rather not go to again, and certain ships we'd rather not go back on.

I need a cruise the week of March 24th (would be open to leaving on the 23rd). I would definitely like to leave out of FL, as that would be the cheapest air fare for me.

As already suggested, go talk to a cruise agent, not only to help you choose your cruise, but also to help you hopefully find affordable airfare.

It's possible to get a good deal at this late date, but airfare is another story. What is the main airport you would use or do you have multiple options to possibly save money?

You still aren't giving us a lot to go off of, so here are what I think a generic first time cruiser might enjoy (allowing both some beach/water sport days and some more cultural days):

Carnival Breeze out of Port Canaveral (Cocoa Beach, fly into Orlando): Amber Cove, St. Thomas, San Juan, Grand Turk

Carnival Horizon out of Miami (8 day, more expensive than other cruises): Grand Turk, San Juan, St. Kitts, St. Maarten

But without knowing more about what you like, it's tough to come up with a good option for you. My first cruise was to Ocho Rios, Costa Maya, and Grand Cayman. I loved it, but I don't know if I would recommend that to a generic first time cruiser. Likewise, I don't know if I would recommend Belize or Roatan to a first timer, but many people love these ports (myself included).

Depends what you want. Any itinerary for a first cruise is a good itinerary IMO, especially for 6 days.

If you want to stay cost-efficient, choose whatever has the lowest cost. You'll have fun.

If you want all of the bells and whistles, and are willing to pay a little more, do the Vista or Horizon.
