Mosquitoes

First time cruising the Mediterranean this August. Are mosquitoes an issue in the ports?

Not in our experience.

Never an issue on our 21 day from Turkey east to Gibraltar west.

We have never had any problems with them

Never had them on our Med cruises nor on our Italian and Greek (including the islands) beach vacations when we lived in Rome and Athens for 7 years.

Unless your excursions take you into rural areas in the evenings, I wouldn’t worry about it. I am a magnet for mosquitoes and I didn’t get a single bite on my Western Mediterranean cruise.

I have read one person's review that said they had a problem with them in Venice at all times of the day, not just the early morning and evenings. My nephew had a problem with them in Florence but they were staying there for quite a few days and went out in the evenings so I'm assuming that's when he was bitten.

We stayed in Venice for a few days last April. It was very warm, and NO mosquitos.

Wow it looks like your good to go. They (Mosquitoes) only like being around my house in Boston. :o

I’ve never seen one mosquito there, but we’ve only been in June.
