TITACATS Posted April 25, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 25, 2018 Hi, this is our family's first cruise on Royal Caribbean and our first cruise in over a decade. We haven't really decided on what to do in Nassau yet aside from wanting to see the aquarium at Atlantis. I've read that there are ferries not far from the cruise ship port that go over to the resort and was wondering if it's easier/safer to take a taxi there or to take the ferry. Clarea Posted April 25, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 25, 2018 Either would be fine. Regular taxi is a shorter walk from the cruise terminal. At Atlantis, you may have to wait a while for the water taxi.
maryjaden Posted April 25, 2018 #3 Share Posted April 25, 2018 When we went, we took a cab over. I can't remember exact price but I don't recall that it was very expensive. My kids really liked the aquarium.

The info I have from the website is $42 pp. Do you happen to know if it's the same price bought there as it is purchased online?

taglovestocruise Posted April 25, 2018 #11 Share Posted April 25, 2018 We were there last year and the cab was $5 for 2 each way. Cost less then the water taxi, which is a overcrowded cattle car. Cab is a 10 minute ride and the water taxi takes close to 30 minutes with wait time, and they bug the crap out of you for a tip. There is still plenty to see at Atlantis without paying for the aquarium.
Rare BirdTravels Posted April 26, 2018 #12 Share Posted April 26, 2018 If you go to Atlantis, you will want to get onto the property to see the full aquarium, shark tank, etc.
mslaabs Posted April 26, 2018 #13 Share Posted April 26, 2018 The taxi ride could be an adventure in itself if it is anything like ride we had one year to the Atlantis. The cab driver literally drove down the sidewalk to get around cars, then blew through a toll booth yelling out the window that we did not have time to stop and pay a toll:eek: The ride back to the ship was not nearly as exciting. HLR Posted April 26, 2018 #14 Share Posted April 26, 2018 The info I have from the website is $42 pp. Do you happen to know if it's the same price bought there as it is purchased online? Hello! What website are you finding just aquarium tickets? I've been searching and can't find that. I was under the impression you could no longer do "the dig" and aquarium without an excursion tour. Please prove me wrong! HLR

Clarea Posted April 26, 2018 #18 Share Posted April 26, 2018 Oh my ... Do you have to pay to get onto Atlantis property? Can one just walk around? You can walk around a small area, like the hotel lobby and casino.
mjkacmom Posted April 26, 2018 #19 Share Posted April 26, 2018 You can walk around a small area, like the hotel lobby and casino. I think the lobby is off limits, just the casino and marina without a pass.

taglovestocruise Posted April 26, 2018 #21 Share Posted April 26, 2018 You need to walk through the lobby to get to the rear stairs to walk down to the ticket office. You can also get to the cafe and aquarium window located through the casino.

I just spoke with an online Rep from Atlantis at Atlantis Bahamas dot Com. Tickets for the Aquarium are $42 and they are the same price whether you purchase them on line or "at the door". Online the "time" available says 9 am. That is the time the Aquarium opens. You can go any time you like. If you just show up you need to show you are sailing on a cruise ship. suizas Posted April 27, 2018 #24 Share Posted April 27, 2018 We were just in Nassau this past Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Took the water ferry over to Atlantis. It was $4 per person each way. I love being on the water, so neither the wait nor the small crowd was unpleasant to me. Sent from my iPad using Forums
scubagirrl Posted April 27, 2018 #25 Share Posted April 27, 2018 How do new guests check-in to the hotel? Guests will have luggage and security will recognize this and allow them to enter. Also, the check in desk is not in the main lobby.. You can't just wander around the lobby, security will "escort" you to the casino, which does not allow children. Not much to see for free, just the casino, upscale shopping and the marina village.
