Allure- what to do on ship if say on board on port days.

Allure- what to do on ship if say on board on port days. Cruising on 13th. Appreciate some suggestions about what to do on the 2 port days me and my scooter will stay on board. Will check GC out of kids club to take to a better lunch but have no other plans. What to others enjoy on port days. Are Flow rider and zipline working on port days if wanted to take oldest GC to do that for a while ? If open, I assign might be less busy. Making memories with GC is main object of cruise for me within my limitations.

You can do all the things that are done on any day of the cruise such as all the activities on the sports deck. The compass you get in your cabin the night before will list all and the times they open.

I am in a wheelchair totally and I cruise on Harmony next year. I will probably get off the ship for a little while at Coco Cay since there will be a dock but at St Thomas and St Maarten, I may not leave the ship at all. This cruise will be ALL about the ship as the destination which is why Ive spent more money on this one than ever and finally booked an oceanview balcony. Ive found that there are a lot of things to do on port days and you get to enjoy a much less crowded ship. :) activities will be listed in the Cruise Compass

The casino and shops (and main dining room, for lunch) are about the only things that are closed on port days. Everything else should be up and running. Port days are a great way to make good use of the ship...fewer people onboard!

Enjoy the emptiness! I'd probably spend the time in the solarium enjoying the peace and quiet. It will be a great time to take your grandkid on the zipline, rockwall, and maybe a game of minigolf without battling lines.

have fun!

Might be different hours of operation, but the Flowrider, zipline, climbing wall, mini golf, basketball court, are all open on port days.

Is this true when the ship is at Labadee? I have seen lots of crew members working on shore at Labadee but haven't been on the ship to see if activities are open or closed. Maybe it is mostly bartenders and waiters on shore and activity staff stay on the ship?

This is a Cruise Compass from an Allure Western cruise, which includes Labadee:

I dunno, my experience on things like rope climbing has been very limited on port days and not wide open like might expect on at sea days. Anything that needs staff to run like slides and flowrider likely to operate fewer hours on port days

That has been our experience as well. On several cruises the florider was booked to private parties on port days.

I just got off Allure and I can echo this. Save for a brief shopping trip, we stayed on board in St Martin, partially because we were going to do things like the flow rider and rock climbing without the crowds. Well the Flow Rider was open for a couple hours first thing in the morning and then closed most of rest of the day. And the rock climbing wall was not open until like 4:00 pm. Was a little disappointing for us.

This may be a good time to sign them up for private flowrider lessons if you're so inclined. May not need it if the crowd is down.

Our experience has been the florider is open on port days mostly for people wanting to rent it our privately per hour. Maybe they have changed that to include people who want to rent part of it for a smaller number of people. We gave up on it after a few times. I can’t remember the prices but remember it definitely wasn’t cheap. And if you want someone to help give assistance it’s double the price.

But it’s probably been a couple years since we have checked so maybe it’s changed.

You don't say (or I missed it) how old the grandchild is. One of the fun, but less known things on the ship are the "small wonders"..they are cool photos that your view through a periscope-like device - they are all over the ship and there are 20 or so of them on Allure. Also, there are a lot of interesting art objects all over the ship - you could do a ship tour and look for the fun ones. Also, there's trivia, classes of various kinds (even on port days, I think).
