I have a June 2 cruise booked for my family (First time on Princess) of 4 and called to see about transportation to the port from the airport and was told it was $76 a person roundtrip. Is this by private helicopter or a private limo with cavier and dom. Wow its not even that far..... guess we will grab an uber or cab...

What company charges this? Ouch!

We only use Lyft and on our last trip from an airport hotel to PE we paid $22 plus tip for a larger vehicle (3 pax, plus bags.) No way would we have paid over $200 for transportation.

Who quoted that price? If you are warning people you need to include that information. Cruise line (any cruise line) transfers are not recommended from FLL to Port Everglades because they are so close to one another (actually within sight of each other). A van taxi (which are common) is the same price as a sedan - probably around $15 to $17 (before tip) total. You probably need an Uber X with that many people and luggage. That will be possibly a little cheaper.

Are you talking about ground transportation from FLL to Port Everglades? The port is maybe 5 or so miles from the airport. When we drive to the port, we park in offsite parking for the airport and cruise port and they shuttle us to whichever one we want - in our case the cruise port. You must have something confused.

$38 per person each way sounds like the transfer from MIA to Port Everglades. From FLL should be around half that. Did you check in your cruise personalizer what the cost is shown there? Under the 'Travel Arrangements' tab if you scroll all the way to the bottom there should be dropboxes for Pre-Cruise and Post-Cruise Transfers. Just be sure to select the correct airport.

Taxi fare is about US$16 plus tip. (per taxi, not per person)

Uber will be less.

It is walkable....but who wants to schlep their luggage 10-15 city blocks? Lots of traffic filled roads to cross, too.

Check out renting a car one way. Airport to port. I did this a few years ago and cost under $40.

You are actually advising the OP to spend twice the cost of a taxi to take the required time picking up a rental car, loading luggage for four, making the less than 10 minute drive to Port Everglades, unloading the luggage, then returning the car likely to the same airport lot they picked it up from and waiting to be shuttled back to the port?

If that is the price from Ft. Laud to port of Miami, that sounds about right.....a cab should only cost about $12-15 from Ft. Laud airport to Port Everglades...that's for up to 4 people AND luggage. You really don't need a "shuttle" between anything in Ft. Laud.

Actually it made sense for us, because we arrived on a very early flight and needed time to kill before boarding the ship

I called princess main number and because my cruise was booked through the casino department they could not "me a price and transferred me to Alexa in the casino department who" d me $79 per person round trip And I confirm that price with a total. I will take an uber. Its not miami port but everglades. Caribbean princess.

Sounds like they are trying to penalize you since you paid a cheap casino fare. That's the first time I've ever read on cruise critic of the transfer fare being dependent on how much the customer paid for the cruise.

At any rate, as everyone has stated, under no circumstances is it cheaper to book a cruise line transfer in Fort Lauderdale to Port Everglades. Taxi, Uber or Lyft are the way to go.

Which AIRPORT are you flying into?

If you are flying into FLL, the correct fare should be about $15 + tip for a taxi that will hold all of you. We paid $20 for an Uber X from our hotel to Port Everglades, which was farther away than the airport. Princess transfers were quoted at $19 per person each way--needless to say, we did the Uber and 3 of us traveled for the cost of one transfer.

On the way back, we booked a day room as we had later flights. The cost of the day room included a complimentary shuttle from Port Everglades to the hotel and from the hotel to the airport, which made it an even better deal.

If you are flying into MIA, it is going to cost significantly more to get to Port Everglades. I can't quote you those rates, but again, a van taxi or Uber X should take 4 of you + luggage for far less than you were quoted.

I suspect you simply misunderstood the quote. Or the casino department lady misspoke. It happens.

Princess transfers from FLL to Port Everglades are $19 pp one way, or $76 for 4 one way - same amount they quoted you. Round trip is $38pp. They've been that price for a couple years. Yes, I just had a quote from my TA for Princess transfers last week, I'm quite sure of the price.

Yes, it's expensive - you're paying for convenience, personell to meet and greet, larger buses luggage transfer, etc.

Obviously, it's way cheaper to either simply grab a cab, take one of the many shuttles there heading to the port or call an Uber or Lyft.

OK, that figure makes sense....but our experience was that 3 of us could travel by UberX (larger vehicles, hold more people and stuff) for the price of Princess transfer for one.

This is why folks recommend flying in a day early, so there is enough time for these shenanigans.

Keep in mind ... that in Ft. Lauderdale ... after you board your ship ... if you go to one of the upper decks

... you will be able to see the FLL control tower.

It is about a 10 minute drive.

Yes, which works great if you have data service on your phone. Being from out of country, we don't have such when we arrive in USA thus we take a cab (although we also don't have the option to fly into FLL! Lol) We always take a limo, but then we arrive into MIA, cab to hotel and stay a few days, then make our way to port. To each their own..

If arriving into FLL, and cruising out if Port Everglades, anything over $20 is a rip-off. A cab, with tip, is $20 or less, up to 4 persons .

As I mentioned earlier, van taxis (holding 6 people plus luggage) are very common in Fort Lauderdale and cost the same as a sedan taxi that holds 4 people.

My Uber trip this morning from the port to FLL

$9.76 Thanks for choosing Uber, John

We did UberX in order to have room for 3 people + mobility equipment...still under $20.

You can also get a van taxi (as noted) for the same price as a standard taxi--again, about $20 including tip. These are available right at the airport, no cell service required!

For us a taxi from FLL to PE has always been $12-15,always give them a $20. For some reason the reverse trip is always about $10 more. Maybe they have to pay a fee to do a pick-up at the Port, I don't know.

Princess Transfer from FLL to Port Everglades is $19 per person. Since there are two of us, we’ll take Uber/Lyft to Port Everglades. Returning to port, we’ll take the Princess Transfer as they fill the buses and head to the airport right away. It’s sometimes difficult for Uber/Lyft to get inside the port in a timely manner when making a pickup.

If you called a private transportation company, that doesn’t sound right. I know of one company that charges $48 to get from FLL to port or hotel 2 miles away for up to 3 people Most private shuttle companies will charge anywhere from $11-15$ per head each direction.

$76 pp round trip? Uh, no.

Heck, we shuttled from Riverside hotel to airport for $25, or cost of $8 pp using their shuttle company that they contract with.
