Beach381 Posted July 20, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 20, 2018 How can I find out the best things to pack for a first time cruise to Alaska in September. We have always cruised to warm climates
Rare Essiesmom Posted July 20, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 20, 2018 Can you please explain the title of your thread? What does that have to do with a cruise to Alaska? That aside, visit the Ports of Call board here for Alaska. Lots of good advice there. As a new member to Cruise Critic, you need to go back to the main boards page and scroll down, read the titles of the sections, and explore all the options for information. CruiserBruce Posted July 20, 2018 #3 Share Posted July 20, 2018 Welcome to Cruise Critic! Here is the Alaska board: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=55 You will see many discussions on clothes, with the consistent recommendation to layer. The outside layer should be wind and water proof.

EM It's "Stephanie's" first post (welcome Stephanie) and she put her name in the title area when she began her post. No big deal...it's happened to many....she'll figure it out now :D

marco Posted July 20, 2018 #6 Share Posted July 20, 2018 We cruised to Alaska in Sept a few years ago. It got "cool" but it wasn't "cold". We still were able to enjoy the pool a couple of days. Bring bug repellent and an umbrella, Sweater or jacket, (I don't think you'll need a winter coat) gloves and a hat are a good idea whilst on deck in the early morning, and binoculars. And definitely, check out the "Alaska" thread for a wealth of information.
capriccio Posted July 20, 2018 #7 Share Posted July 20, 2018 Prepare for the worst (cold and rain) and hope for the best (warm and sunny). We've experienced both on 2 out of 3 of our Alaska cruises 9the 3rd - just 2 weeks ago - had beautiful weather). That's why layers, waterproof shoes, hats, scarf and gloves are important. Best to be prepared.
