Does anyone know if you can upgrade from an obstructed balcony to an unobstructed balcony under this 3FF? Is an obstructed balcony considered it’s own type or is it considered a balcony?

 

The promo says:

Add my thanks. As I sail solo, this is the best deal for me. I get double the OBC and save the gratuity. I usually decline the cabin upgrade. I literally booked my cruise yesterday, so I will call when I get back from my next cruise. Yippee.

Traditionally 3 for free has an automatic upgrade in same category. As I recall obstructed balcony is usually in with interior. You might get a balcony or more likely an obstructed balcony in what they consider a better location. Mike

Yeah, when we booked through the Princess website, obstructed balconies were under Interior. That’s why I was wondering if I could switch to a regular balcony. I guess I will try for it on 9/6 and see what they say. In any case, even without the upgrade, the other perks are worth it to me.

I waited for the Sip and Sail for our Northern Lights cruise but then, when the promo appeared, Princess raised the price of my cabin by $500 per person. D'Oh! Screw that. I actually decided to downgrade from my balcony cabin to a Premium Ocean View. I'll see how the 3 for Free works out. I can't see them raising the pricing any higher than they did for the S&S so maybe I'll be able to change my booking and get the 3 for Free. As it stands, we have zilch for perks on the cruise and don't even have enough OBC to cover the gratuities.

Yes...and no.

 

Last year the OBC was based only on the length of the cruise, not also on the type cabin:

6 - 9 Days $75 USD 10 - 12 Days $100 USD 13+ Days $150 USD

 

I am receiving more OBC from last year's promotion than if I booked the same type cabin for the same length this time.
