fvandewouwer Posted August 27, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 27, 2018 Hi, we are looking for the first time to do a Princess Cruise Emerald 28 days from LA februari 2020 we have done RCI ( 25 cruises ) Carnival and NCL so this is new for us some questions, hope you can help us can we book this cruise through the Princess website ? I cannot manage to see any prices on the Princess Website neither book on it a cruise ??? if we use our TA ( who is from the US ) will they adjust the prices before final payment ' they do this for us now but we need to check the price ourselves' like to compare price ' TA with the website ' before we book this one looking at a balcony room between room floors mid ship any bad rooms / room location and why ? we became diamond plus members of RCI wished we could do similar itinerary with them for the benefits but … is there any possibility we can keep our status ( as they are all under the Carnival management ? ) I have been reading mixed reviews, Princess customers are stiff and a bit posh I have been told, will we fit in ? we never dress up fancy ( husband does not even has a costume ) love to eat whenever we like and whatever we want ' so normally we go to the self service restaurant ' we would do this cruise for the itinerary and yes we love sea days love to talk to people and watch the ocean go by, evening we go to the show and spend some time walking around or loose money at the casino all ideas and tips for us are welcome thanks
diane.in.ny Posted August 27, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 27, 2018 can we book this cruise through the Princess website ? I cannot manage to see any prices on the Princess Website neither book on it a cruise ??? It may because you are in Belgium. Normally cruise pricing is available on the web site and you can book on the web site. At least those of us in the US can if we use our TA ( who is from the US ) will they adjust the prices before final payment ' they do this for us now but we need to check the price ourselves' Yes, you should be able to adjust the pricing as the prices drop looking at a balcony room between room floors mid ship any bad rooms / room location and why ? Sorry. Can't help you with this. Never been on the Emerald we became diamond plus members of RCI wished we could do similar itinerary with them for the benefits but … is there any possibility we can keep our status ( as they are all under the Carnival management ? ) RCI is not under Carnival management. I have been reading mixed reviews, Princess customers are stiff and a bit posh I have been told, will we fit in ? Not true we never dress up fancy ( husband does not even has a costume ) love to eat whenever we like and whatever we want ' so normally we go to the self service restaurant ' we would do this cruise for the itinerary Not a problem. I have friends who are Elite on Princess and never eat in the dining room and never dress up. and yes we love sea days love to talk to people and watch the ocean go by, evening we go to the show and spend some time walking around or loose money at the casino You'll be fine on Princess
Rare geoherb Posted August 27, 2018 #3 Share Posted August 27, 2018 The Caribe Deck balcony cabins are great. The balconies on them are double the size of other balcony cabins and are half covered/half uncovered.

Magellan321 Posted August 27, 2018 #5 Share Posted August 27, 2018 I totally second....if you can get a Caribe deck balcony for a long cruise. So much more space to stretch out and enjoy your balcony. FYI.... we favor Princess but cruise Celebrity a lot and Royal Caribbean lately when the itinerary is unique. That being said we love a sea day balcony lunch....and Princess has never failed us on some great soup, sandwich, and awesome warm cookies! Kamloops50 Posted August 27, 2018 #6 Share Posted August 27, 2018 We have done that cruise. A couple from hawaii will board in LA. They will teach hula, ukulele and lei making . Their will be a naturalist/historian who will give lectures about everything you'll see. If you love sea days this is the cruise for you. The only problem we had was that our balcony got to hot to use when in the afternoon sun. The first couple and last couple of days could be chilly. KevintheIrishDJ Posted August 27, 2018 #7 Share Posted August 27, 2018 Buy 100 shares of Carnival stock and get a tax free OBC every time you sail.

Rare Itchy&Scratchy Posted August 28, 2018 #9 Share Posted August 28, 2018 Princess customers are stiff and a bit posh I have been told? lol, not so. :) I hate dressing up and we are as down to earth as it's humanly possible. If you like relaxation, Princess is the line for you. They are very laid back. Now, I'd personally pick Regal or Royal Princess (newer and shinier, and the buffet is superb), but if they don't do the itinerary you MUST have, then other Princess ships will do. I don't know about the rain in that part, since we only cruise in the Caribbean.
Thrak Posted August 28, 2018 #10 Share Posted August 28, 2018 We did the 28 day Hawaii/South Pacific cruise last October on Emerald and loved it. We had a Caribe deck balcony and it was great.
Pierlesscruisers Posted August 28, 2018 #11 Share Posted August 28, 2018 Hi,sorry about my English mistakes, but it is not my first language Certainly no need to apologize. It's evident that it's much better than our Belgian!
TheRabbit Posted August 28, 2018 #12 Share Posted August 28, 2018 Certainly no need to apologize. It's evident that it's much better than our Belgian! As said, no need to apologize. Between Flemish, Dutch, French and German being spoken in your country, I can see why English would be down the list a bit. Are most of your TV stations in English similar to Holland? As for the cabin location, the first rule is usually mid low if you have problems with motion. After that it might be the view you want or location to a specific elevator/stair set. Colo Cruiser Posted August 28, 2018 #13 Share Posted August 28, 2018 RCI is not OWNED by Carnival Corp. We have sailed the Emerald many times. Loved her every time! :)

simon stingray Posted August 29, 2018 #15 Share Posted August 29, 2018 We are in the UK and have used a couple of US based agents to book cruises on Celebrity to benefit from better pricing and onboard credit as well as price drops (UK based agents give us NOTHING-some even charged us extra to pay for our cruise by credit card until it was recently made illegal). Whenever we have enquired about booking a Princess cruise through a US agent we were told that they were banned by Princess from booking non US/Canadian guests. Just thought it is something you should be aware of and if you do manage to book via a US agent please let us know.

There have been posts saying if you had a relationship with a US based travel agency before they made this rule, you are allowed to continue using that agent.
