How's Serenade?

Just to put all this „old and rusty ship“ comments into perspective: Serenade is just three years older than Freedom and even four years younger than Voyager. And the big Oasis ships will never be able to go into any of the ports Serenade just visited on her way to Boston.

Agree. Radiance Class was designed using the best of Vision and Voyager Classes...

I was on this ship for 21 days doing a back to back in June and have it booked again in October. I love the radiance class ships. The crew were amazing and the food was very good, could always find something I wanted to eat, even after 21 days. We did the mystery dinner and that was excellent. Lots of things have changed since I started cruising but we had no complaints other than we could have stayed even longer. Happy to be back on her next month. The beds were very comfortable, cabin steward was great and we enjoyed the casino and their staff too. Jamie was great, sorry to hear he will be on vacation during our next cruise. Did they announce who was replacing him?

We just returned from the 12 day Beantown to Beaches cruise on Serenade.  One big drawback was the odor in the hallway on deck 8.  It really was offensive and made it seem more like we were in a poorly maintained nursing home than a luxury ship.  Travel companions on deck 7 also noted the smell.  That being said there was no odor in our stateroom but on days when we were in port and sat on the balcony there seemed to be some bad odors emanating from the ship (we had an aft cabin). Also after a heavy rainstorm in Antigua our balcony was a bit muddy.   As far as other areas of the ship I really have no complaints.  Some of the outside areas are showing their age but the inside is quite nice.

We will be on Serenade in March and we're really encouraged by most of the positive responses on this thread. Based on a few of the negative ones, I guess we can conclude that most positive and negative reviews are subjective. Some have commented about fewer options based on her size compared to the larger ships. We've been on Oasis and I found it less appealing because of the overwhelmingly large crowds. We had 6300 people on our sailing and although it is a beautiful ship, we found it very uncomfortable in the common areas. Especially the MDR. We almost needed a shoehorn to fit into our table. Our favourite ship was Navigator. Although it's a larger ship, it didn't feel overcrowded and the staff were fantastic. We anticipate Serenade will have a similar feel even though there are fewer activities on board.

Want to reserve the mystery dinner on the Serenade.  When is it available to book or must it be done only on board.  We sail in April 19 .  How much did it cost?  Did this may years ago but forgot how much and when I booked it.

Just returned from the 12nt repositioning cruise.  This was our 3rd time on the Serenade and love the Radiance class.  It was evident that the Centrum had been updated but the Schooner Bar is in serious need of new furnishings.  From the previous posts, it makes sense that they would do railings and painting for rust once It returns to Florida - it definitely is needed!  We were on the 8th deck and the musty odor came from a cabin 2 doors down from us.  There had been a water issue and, although they seemed quick to address the issue, the odor never seemed to go away.

The Serenade is older and definitely doesn't have the flash of the newer ships but she is still one of our favorites (mostly due to the staff) and we are booked to sail on her again next year.

ps. Food is definitely subjective but we had no problem with the quality of the food served in the dining room.  Food was consistently hot. Windjammer was okay.

We’re pretty low key people and don’t need a lot of flash.  Appreciate your review as we’re close to being booking the Boston to Port Everglades repo next fall and this reaffirmed my disre to book.

I was on Serenade in February 2017 and then Navigator in March 2018.  I found the flow of people to be much better on Serenade.  Schooner bar, where many activities like trivia are held would be so crowded on Navigator with it being located in a main walk way to the casino.  Serenade has Schooner bar aft, it's larger and it's much less of a bottleneck.  I think you'll be very pleasantly surprised with Serenade....enjoy!!!

We were on Serenade in early October from Boston to Bermuda and could see no obvious problems; we had not been on that class of ship before and found it to be wonderful with all the glass and views out to sea.  We were on deck 3 and did notice a slight odor in the hallway in the later part of the week but nothing too bad and was not in our room.   We found the food and entertainment to range from good to great.  Nothing disappointed and the staff were wonderful!  I would definitely sail on her again!
