OBC Withdrawal - Casino

Just sailed on the Explorer in September.  We always set up a cash account and have never had difficulty on any ship withdrawing non-refundable OBC. Just be sure to let the cashier know your account is cash and confirm that you will not be charged the 5%.  We have never been charged. Some ships give us cash and others give us a voucher for the slots. I learned on cruisecritic to put the voucher in the machine, press the cash out button and return to the teller for the cash. Works every time.

Alternately have gone to GS on the last day and received any leftover OBC.  No 5% fee charged.

The only OBC that you can cash out as GS is refundable OBC

Can someone tell me when they changed these policies?

We were on Liberty in February and had both Refundable and Non-Refundable OBC. I was able to take cash out, without the 5% fee, at the Casino, after they verified with GS that we had a cash account.

Tables.... and a BIG fight to get back the promo$ from the seapass.... what a scam!

Especially since they cut the cents of to their advantage!

So if you have $10.67 on the card and stick it in again.... it will only give you $10.00:classic_ohmy::classic_angry:

Was told they are testing to roll this out fleetwide ASAP! 👎

So if you play slots and want to use their money you could ask for $20 to pay with and then get cash for anything over the $20 that you win?  And then could get another $20 the next day and so on?

Was on Oasis last week and had extra obc non refundable  on last day. Went to casino  got  cash on card  .They gave me cash but sometimes you get a printed voucher. Just go to slot put in voucher  then push cash out and new voucher from machine is printed. Take voucher to window and get cash. Normal 5 percent charge  , 1 dollar on twenty, 5 on 100.00 etc. no cash account stup needed for this method. Bob

This method will be eliminated soon.... you can only cash out winnings soon when playing slots! :classic_angry:

I only have experience on Anthem.  Anthem no longer has vouchers, if you take money on your seapass you are given cash.  Anthem also give you $5 free play on the slots.  You get the free play right on the slot machine through your account. You cannot just cash out the $5, you need to play it and can only take out your winnings. You also get free play for your points. (ex 500 points gives you $10 free play) Same rule applies, you can only cash out your winnings.

You can go to guest services at the end of your cruise and they will give you cash for your refundable OBC, otherwise it will be put back on your credit card that you paid your cruise with a few days later. They use the non-refundable OBC first against your account, if you have both non-refundable and refundable.

I think you pretty much have to wait until the last day to get your refundable OBC from GS whether you have a cash account or a cc on file

That's kinda what I thought.  Obviously, the advantage of getting your OBC earlier is not having to wait on a long line at the end of a cruise.

Good points.  Long waits at GS on last day.  Or cash out your refundable OBC at casino with that 5% service fee (but no lines).

True.. Royal has found a way to create two losing scenarios for passengers  but only a win for them, which is actually impressive.  In the past I only needed to think about how to breakeven with the bar on my drink package.  Now I have to think about the monetary value of my time while on vacation.  Vacationing on Royal requires a lot of thinking... lol
