Edgie Art On The Edge: A Feast For The Senses!

Since we have started to see some of the art onboard and there has been a lot of discussion about it on other threads, it seems that we need a separate thread to post the latest pictures and discussions. I have been pleasantly surprised so far - I haven't loved it all, but really appreciate the whimsy, the variety and the quality of some pieces. I'm sure there will be many more surprises and I can't wait!

I'll get things started:

Here is some art reportedly "down in the basement" that will be a fun photo op place Maybe it is near the teen center? I would bet that there may be other artsy photo op sites onboard

The Butterfly on the Resort Deck with changing display in the background

The pendulum and even some of the staircases are like works of art

They have described life sized art on the Resort deck - someone wondered if these supports might be frames for that art

The "Wizard of Oz Forest" 😉 between the casino and Cosmo Restaurant

Luminae artwork

Cafe al Bacio art

The Faceless People by Xavier Vielhan by Blu and in other areas

The Sunset Bar:

Eden Art - sea anemones

And, of course, Mr. Edge

There is so much more!  The whole ship is a work of art, if you ask me. The chandeliers, lighting inside and out, staircases, etc. So much to see!

Great idea for this thread!

Hope we can all contribute and discuss

What do you know about the Cafe Baccio lady?

Hope they definitely have an art guide or catalogue, or even a self directed tour ( like QM 2)

I'm wondering if they will have a guided tour of the art - I would definitely book that tour! Maybe they will at least have a lecture about the art onboard.  If not, I like the idea of the self-guided tour. A catalogue (especially if paperback) would be a nice keepsake - hopefully they will sell one in the To The Edge store.

I don't know anything about the al Bacio Lady, but surely would like to know more!  Could she be a captain's wife/fiance, waiting for him to come home?

Thank you so much for starting this thread.  I am super excited to see the art installations on this new ship, and frankly have been a bit disconcerted by all the negative reactions posted elsewhere.  I enjoy spending part of the first sea days, camera in hand, exploring.  Some onboard art is challenging, some just silly, but hurrah for the designers who spend the time and money.  Veilhan sculptures were a real coup IMHO.

Don't they have a tour on the Reflection via iPad from Guest Relations? They should incorporate the self-guided tour via the app. I think there was a book about the Reflection art in the cabin. I almost borrowed it permanently as I didn't see if for sale anywhere.

I'm pretty sure that I've seen art collection books on Silhouette and Reflection. I especially love the stairwell art and enjoy using the books as references on X ships that have them. The iPad tour rings a bell - hope there will be something similar on the Edge!

A seven (7) day’s cruise is not long enough to enjoy this new ship. IMHO.

Yes I wish I had booked back to back like some have done.  It will not be possible to enjoy all of the dining options in just 7 days!

May I say "sexy" in an Internet board mainly crowded by people from the States?

Oh well, I´ll just do it.

This ship is so sexy. So, so, so sexy.

If the food and service is as good as it once to be, I might save every Penny, Nickel and Dime to be on her (I still mean the ship...) as often as possible.

Well... If X should ever learn that an amazing ship needs unusual destinations.

I will join you in that chorus for different destinations... but after I have had the opportunity to explore it fully...

We didn't  book back to back but two cruises several months apart...diff itins.

First cruise in AQ class with BLU and Thermal Suite....,second in Sunset Veranda exploring the various MDRs...

If we like it in January, we may try to budget our way into a suite..maybe for a short itin if offered, to experience the Retreat...and suite life on EDGE..

If prices stay sky high we'll look for a reg cabin with an outdoor balcony or another Sunset Veranda...

Agreed. That's why we booked the Inaugural and the TA. You could always join us. 😊

Photo #1 is a Celebrity crew member standing in front of the wings.

You can see his eyes and he is dress in a black Celebrity uniform.

Yes, the crew gets to try this out first. Soon we will be there for some great photo ops. I'm hoping for other such areas on the ship - for the art and for some fun pictures! 🙂

C-Dragons and Bo,

We did book back to back but we start with Harmony on Jan 13 followed by Edge on Jan 20th.  Harmony is a very nice and new(er) ship as well so we will not be suffering at all!

Prices are high so hedging our bets and waiting for a longer cruise and better itinerary when the new schedules get released for Edge and Apex.
