Guest-to-Guest Messaging on Allure?

Does Allure have a way to text with other guests aboard?  Trying to decide if its worth getting the internet package for our kids to keep in touch with us or if there's a free option through the app.  The reps say no but I swear I've seen it on here that there is something available.  If it is available - how does it work?  Thanks!

I believe Allure is one if the ships that has a free chat feature with the Royal Caribbean International App.

We used the app on the Allure in October. Only drawback is that there is no notification that you have a message if you are not logged into the app.

On board now and the Royal app works just fine for messaging.  As long as you open the app once on board it will remain in the background.

 

I did receive notifications and if I had my phone off I received the notifications once I turned my phone back on.  It looks like Royal has imprivrd the texting since it was first rolled out.

At some point yes, but not now, and the cruise line has not publicly released a rollout schedule.

While the app is available, the texting option may not yet be available.

When did they add that to Symphony?   We sailed on her in March and while the app was usable they had not added the chat feature.

I was told if I keep my phone on airplane mode and have the app i can use my phone for photos and messaging others in our group at no cost. Does anyone know if this is true.?
