CozGurl Posted January 4, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 4, 2019 Newbie to NCL and the bidding things. We're on the Dawn later this month and could still bid on an upgrade. We're in balcony cabin 9212. What is the difference between a balcony cabin and a mini suite? What would we get that we don't get in a regular balcony cabin? And when you look at the bid slider thing it says only first and second person charged. If we bid $100 is that pp per day? Or just a straight $200? stampincrazyinTX Posted January 4, 2019 #2 Share Posted January 4, 2019 Really the only difference is that bathroom has a shower/tub combo and there is a curtain that you can use to have privacy between the 'sitting area' and the bed. There is nothing you would get in a mini-suite that would be any different than the balcony (i.e. no 'suite' perks as it's basically just a glorified balcony room. timf2001 Posted January 4, 2019 #3 Share Posted January 4, 2019 If your bid is $100, you will be charged $200 total (not per day).
mjkacmom Posted January 4, 2019 #4 Share Posted January 4, 2019 I believe the cabin is bigger as is the bathroom.
don't-use-real-name Posted January 4, 2019 #5 Share Posted January 4, 2019 Basically it shows up as more square footage in the bathroom and maybe a closet/cabinet or two. Compare the square footage provided by cruisedeckplans Your 9212: Square footage 166 for the cabin and 37 for the balcony For the average mini suite Square footage 229 for the cabin and 54 for the balcony Use this LINK: https://www.cruisedeckplans.com/DP/deckplans/Norwegian-Dawn click on deck 9 mouse to 9212 to see your cabin selection - browse around further to the differences At the deck plans page look to the left for the types of cabins (colored blocks) and see what is what. cathi007 Posted January 5, 2019 #6 Share Posted January 5, 2019 wow the mini suite on the Escape is much smaller than the mini on the Dawn. I'll be on the small mini on the Escape soon. Even the balcony on the mini is smaller 😞
cb at sea Posted January 5, 2019 #7 Share Posted January 5, 2019 "Mini" suites don't get the full suite perks. You get a larger cabin...that's about it.
hladygirl Posted January 5, 2019 #8 Share Posted January 5, 2019 On the Dawn the minisuites have a larger barthroom and sofa. The balcony is deeper and you can ask your room steward for a lounger and it will fit. The balcony also has an overhang from above (if you are assigned an MA category) which protects from rain and gives extra shade. The MB category balconies are the same size but no protection from sun or rain and the dividers are slanted giving you less privacy.

Difference in a balcony cabin and a mini suite is the bathroom. The bathroom has dual sinks, and a huge (in ship terms) shower. Other than that they are pretty much the same cabin, The bid wuld be a straight $200, it is not bid on a er day basis.

Thus is would be an additional $200 total on top of the fare already paid. If adding a 3 or 4th guest if possible there would be no additional charge.
