Thank you for the tips on the possible "fill a bag" laundry deal mid-cruise (I'll definitely look for that!), specialty dining pre-purchase deals and asking the butler to empty the mini-fridge and just filling it ourselves.  Great tips!  To cangelmd's point above, we actually found that our RS butler was really reluctant to refill our fridge even though we were in a RS, had the premium bev package AND only drank soda and water.  We certainly weren't drinking Celebrity out of house and home, so to speak.  We also never attended the sail-aways or galley tours, so that's not really a concern (or worth $4K!).

I

Ok, so a galley tour is a matter of taste - we are food and wine people, and I have this weird interest in logistics, so we love them - but you have to do a sail away! We got invited to a sail in - into San Juan. We had visited the fort ?El Moro? In San Juan just the year before, so getting to see it from sea on the prow of a huge ship was a real treat!  You gotta try it once, just save it for a super port!

LOL!  Ok, you've convinced me!  🙂

Did you get this price cut?  Our TA was always able to get them for us (before final payment).  On a Med cruise on Connie in 2016 we went from an AQ to an SS to a CS and ended up paying less than the original AQ price!

Yes, we got the price cut!  The cost came down twice since we booked and I've been able to do the adjustment both times.  I will keep checking for more!

I had to check after reading your posts.  I sure I am glad that I do not desire or need to cruise over the Christmas break.

Your 7 day cruise for 2019 and 2020 reflect over $2100 a day for an RS.  (Assuming 2 people).  I am shocked that anyone would ever pay that much for even a RS.

I know you are booking with 3 people, but 2 people is my experience base.

Obviously it would be very difficult to justify that kind of cost on Celebrity.

Yes, the cost of the RS went up substantially from 2018 to 2019 (about 40%).  We are basically paying the same price for the 2019 CS as we did for the 2018 RS.  Unfortunately, due to my son's school schedule, it is the only time we can travel, so vacation prices, in general, are up substantially that week.  He used to get the week before Christmas off and we saved a bundle then!  After pricing out many land and sea options, however, I have found that cruising is much more cost effective than, say, flying to one of the islands or Mexico and staying for Christmas week in a 4 or 5 star resort.  And, to maybe, put things in perspective, we are gold on DCL and are used to spending DCL prices (ack!).  A comparable stateroom (1-bedroom) on DCL for a seven-night cruise in 2019 priced out at $31,000 . . . and that doesn't include beverage packages, OBC, gratuities or wifi (double ACK!).  So I kind of feel like I'm getting a deal on Celebrity!

Brain fade here. What is DCL?

The Expedited luggage service (which I think is available in the US as well) is not like the luggage valet in Florida . When your taxi drops you at the port he will be directed to a separated area where a concierge is waiting with a list of 10 names (there being only ten suites that receive this service) your luggage is then labelled and taken direct to your room . We found that when we went to our cabin our bags were sitting in our living room waiting😎. I 'm not sure if this is the same service as in the US ports but I can't imagine we Brits get something you don't across the pond.

I think the official term for this is 'Special Delivery'. This is offered to Royal Suite and Penthouse guests at the dock. It ensures that their luggage is taken directly to their staterooms, and a butler or suite manager escorts the RS and PH guests directly to Michaels Club or Luminae for snacks or lunch. At least at U.S. ports.

This happens at Southampton as well although in October there was no one there to escort us on which did not bother us in the slightest.

We have met Niko enough times that she recognises us from afar. Whether that is a good or a bad thing I will leave to your judgement.

This makes me think they should be reducing pricing.... but I know that won't happen. 🙂

For a minute I thought you were taking about Disney reducing their prices which definitely won't happen.

That was my intent. Disney is NOT likely to reduce pricing on anything. But, with the overage of cheeses available I would think it would be cheaper to feed Mickey and his family than it used to be.

Yes, DCL is always more expensive from my experience.  My grandkids enjoyed every minute of our DIsney cruise, but it is so expensive.

I  had never looked at the Christmas cruises, therefore I did not realize how expensive they are.  The kids grow up fast, so enjoy it when you can.

Did you consider two Sky Suites?

Wishing you an enjoyable cruise.

You're correct! They'll be no reductions ----well, that's what comes with with such a Micky Mouse outfit!  (Sorry, someone had to post that!)
