Burning Question: How Good are Lido Market Cupcakes?

I was recently on the Nieuw Statendam and with so many dessert choices at the Lido Market,

time slipped away and I didn’t try the cupcakes, which are a favorite dessert.  How are they?

I've found they vary, probably depending on the pastry chef on the ship at the time.
On one cruise they were delicious, and I had a small 'birthday party' many days, using a cupcake and some ice cream. On the next cruise, they weren't worth the calories & sugar. I was very disappointed.

I find the muffins better than the cupcakes, especially the chocolate muffins!

Amen to the chocolate muffins.  If you scoop a bit out of the top to create an indentation, you can add a scoop of ice cream to the top and some sprinkles for a great dessert.

The cup cakes vary by ship and pastry chef.  Some are excellent -- some very dry.  One time we were on the Nieuw Amsterdam and I looked forward to having a cup cake at lunch time.  We were on the Nieuw Amsterdam a year later -- different pastry chef -- dry cup cakes.

 

As to the chocolate muffins -- YUM!!!

How about a bit of caramel sauce and whipped cream too.
