Port Everglades vs Fort Lauderdale?

Are these the same pace? Are there 2 ports. When I search the Port Everglades looks like the one in Fort Lauderdale but HAL does not leave from there. Confused???

They are the same place. Port Everglades or Ft Lauderdale, it's the same port for cruises.  "A rose by any other name..."HAL does sail from there too.

We followed the new HAL ship out of port Everglades last week

The city is Ft Lauderdale, the port in Ft Lauderdale is Port Everglades. And HAL definitely does sail out of Port Everglades...5 or 6 ships in the winter season.

Some lines refer to ports named that way after the city or a nearby city to give a better frame of reference to passengers. So Port Everglades is the Fort Lauderdale port, but HAL might just list it as Fort Lauderdale (I'm not familiar with HAL). Same as Port Canaveral, some lines list it as "Orlando" even though its 45-60 min away from Orlando.

I have sailed on HAL out of FLL and have seen HAL ships there on many occasions

The above explains it exactly.

The port in Ft. Lauderdale is Port Everglades. 

When your itinerary says Ft. Lauderdale, you will be leaving from the port there which is called Port Everglades which is only about 10 minutes from the Ft. Lauderdale airport.
