Also got a call a few days later and they did say this was fleet wide! 71 is not cool. HQ does not know the particulars of the HVAC systems on each ship fleet wide. Believe 71 would be a standard they go for in public areas, but of course every area can be different. My only original point was don't try to compare one single cabin on a ship with cabins fleet wide.

We've been on the Royal twice and my main complaint about the buffet was that the "hot" food was lukewarm, at best, both at lunch and dinner (don't eat hot food for breakfast so can't comment on that meal at the buffet). Indeed it is different & sooo much better. If you had something to one of the chefs standing around they would have checked the food temperature & corrected the situation. Also, things that had been sitting out for a while were taken away and replace with new. I was about to take some pasta salad when an attendent took it away and said to me, "No, please. Out too long. I bring fresh. It not take long."

Consistently cold every day even after I notified them time & again.
AF-1 Posted March 18, 2019 #57 Share Posted March 18, 2019 wow MissP22, sorry you had bad luck. Some of the hot desserts like the hot custard, and apple crumble; I had to wait to eat; because it was too hot.

Just one notch below normal on the thermostats works best for us ... and have had no problems keeping cool in our cabins on Princess ships including Caribbean Princess in January. NOTE: When you have a mini-suite, there are TWO thermostats so you will need to set BOTH. In the winter we turn our thermostat waaaaaaaaaaaay up to 70 degrees. In the summer we turn it waaaaaaaaaaaaay down to 80 degrees when we're being wild. (82 is more of our normal summer setting.)

Kate P.C Posted March 23, 2019 #62 Share Posted March 23, 2019 We were on deck 11, on the CB for two weeks and had no problems with the A/C. I slept with long sleeves, socks, and a duvet and that was a comfortable temperature for me. As for the food on Caribbean Princess, we also can not say anything negative. I am a vegetarian and still found so many things to choose from. The buffet layout is new and I like it way better than the previous Horizon court.
TrixiePixie Posted April 15, 2019 #63 Share Posted April 15, 2019 Hello everyone. There was someone who posted that they have removed the mailboxes when we enter our cabins. They also had a picture of some home made folders they used to make their own mailboxes. Does any one know where that thread is. Thanks

I would hate to pay the bill to keep it 74 in the summer when it's 110 outside. At that temperature the bill would be huge and the temperature change when walking out the door into the outside air would feel like getting hit in the face with a brick. You obviously must have different weather where you live.

I tried to do this, but our window suite had a wooden door!

Not much noise, sometimes runners on the promenade deck above, and the stabilizers make noise when seas are rough. Bring ear plugs just in case! Double sinks in the bathroom and tons of storage. If you were signed up for traditional rather than anytime dinning, you would not be offered Club Class dining as it is strictly anytime. The dining room staff in Club Class, Mark and Sonja, were excellent when we were aboard Jan 26 - Feb 23, 2019. My goodness but aren't Mark and Sonja the best! We were on the CB for 38 days from November 24 2018 - January 2 2019. We had really great service in the MDR - club class dining was just amazing. Almost every night there was a fresh made pasta dish, plus an additional entrée. When there wasn't a special pasta dish / appetizer, there was a special dessert. And the head server for cc (for us it was Mirelle) was just fantastic and wanted to make us special dishes all the time - we had so many sautéed shrimp (served on a large plate for the table), we could dwell in the sea now! And if we really liked one of the lunch desserts (chocolate eclairs! yum), she would keep them for us for dinner dessert as well. I prefer a plastic glass for my soda (it tastes funny in those small glass glasses), and Sonja started keeping large plastic glasses in the dish area and would use them just for me. The WFM was interesting - there was lots of stuff they got right - these little round philly beef sandwiches, nachos, roasted chicken, premade sandwiches with lettuce, tomato, thin sliced onion, and a variety of meats. Small batches of hot foods, good international variety (some Indian, some Greek, some other countries). But when it was wrong, it could be really wrong - dried out meat, weird salads, tasteless mini cupcakes. I found it no different than any other buffet - lots of hits with a few misses. They really were on top of the food temperatures though - constantly checking with their thermometers. The downsides is that the ship seemed to run out of a lot of stuff - vanilla flavour at the coffee shop, the "good" butter, just a few little things that were like, "Huh?" kywildcatfanone Posted April 16, 2019 #69 Share Posted April 16, 2019 We did book the CB again this summer, but an inside cabin. If I have air flow issues, will remove the diffuser again. If it continues won't book it again. Am also hoping food choices in the buffet are improved over last year.

On our 28 days aboard we had Mirelle for the first part but then she left the ship as her contract was up. We thought she was great as was her replacement. Mark and Sonja told us they had to change sections of Club Class each turn-around day. So my wife and I did the same so they could continue being our servers. I sure hope to meet up with them all again someday on a future cruise.

Because we needed a wheelchair accessible table for 3, we pretty much stuck to the trio of tables right by the entrance. Mirelle was kind enough to ensure that regardless of where Mark & Sonja were assigned, they were able to serve us. And yes, I have booked the Caribbean Princess for next January again in hopes that we meet the same wonderful CC dining staff. We just got off the Crown before it left for Europe yesterday. The food and service were great compared to the CB in both the DR and buffet being surpassed only by the Royal class ships. The air conditioning was also working fine in our room (Emerald deck) & all public areas of the ship. btw- removing the air deflector doesn't do much of anything except maybe increase the amount of warm air delivered to the cabin. My DH had ours removed for all of our first leg & we couldn't tell much difference with or without it. We would book the Crown again & never look to the CB again until they fix both the food & AC. Hopefully during dry dock.
