I don’t know why some of you just get a lanyard. Here’s what I get as a platinum guest.

 

• One (1) complimentary specialty coffee, soda or alcoholic beverage with a value no greater than $10 USD + gratuity at Seaday brunch. On ships where brunch is not available, complimentary beverage at breakfast or lunch in Main Dining Room.  Alcoholic beverages may only be consumed by adults of applicable legal drinking age.
• Complimentary 1 liter bottle of water delivered to stateroom on every sailing.
• Invitation to the VIFP Party on 5+ day Cruises. Members will receive complimentary drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and appetizers at each VIFP Party. Only Members age 21 and over may receive alcoholic beverages.
• 'Chocolate Delight' delivered to stateroom on 5+ day cruises
• Priority Check-in and Boarding. Subject to availability at port of embarkation. Priority boarding only available for initial embarkation at outset of Cruise.
• Pin identifying Carnival ship and year of cruise provided on each cruise.
• Priority dining time seating in Main Dining Room for dinner only. Carnival does not guarantee that Member will receive requested seating time. Applies only to seating time assignment request.  Does not apply to wait time when 'Your Time Seating' is requested.
  Priority reservations at Specialty restaurants. Requires minimum 24-hour prior notice. Carnival does not guarantee that Member will receive requested reservation time. Member responsible for any and all costs associated with eating at Specialty restaurants, including without limitation, meal and beverage costs and gratuity.
• Casino: Complimentary 2nd casino tournament entry with the purchase of a casino tournament entry. Valid in Blackjack and Slot Tournaments only. Member must contact the Casino Cashier to purchase initial tournament entry and obtain complimentary 2nd casino tournament entry. Member must be of applicable legal gambling age to participate in Casino tournaments and the 2nd casino tournament entry may be used for either a 2nd tournament or for a 2nd player of applicable legal gambling age. Limit one (1) complimentary casino tournament entry per cruise per Platinum Member. No substitution for Members younger than applicable legal gambling age. Additional rules regarding use of Casino facilities may apply.
• Complimentary Arcade credit for guests of Platinum Members who are under the age of 18. Benefit limited to $5 USD worth of Arcade credit per Platinum Member per cruise. Platinum Members traveling with two or more children may redeem up to two (2) $5 USD Arcade credits per Platinum Member, provided that each child is limited to only one (1) $5 USD credit per cruise. Additional rules regarding use of Arcade facilities may apply. No substitution for Members 18 years of age and older.
• Complimentary Wash/Fold Service. Limit two (2) bags per Platinum Member on a 3-6 day cruise, limit three (3) bags per Platinum Member on 7-12 day cruise and (5) bags per Platinum Member on a 13+ day cruise.
• Carnival logo gift item on each cruise. Benefit subject to availability. No substitution if item is unavailable.

THIS is a useful and nice gift. It's really not that hard!

 

It really is a neat and practical gift and definitely not something I would give away.

 

As far as lanyards go, we usually get the strecthy ones from the casino after having our cards punched.  It makes it easy to find your card in your purse, doesn't get soiled when you have suntan lotion on, great to wear when going on or off th e ship since it isn't easily seen if you have a collared shirt/top.  We even use the ones from the casino with a clear plastic holder on other cruise lines where you cannot punch the card due to chips in the cards.

Almost everything on that platinum list has zero dollar value versus your money spent ..... Great deal for Carnival . They can give out all the "priority this and that" at no extra cost to them .... except maybe that 99 cent lanyard and 59 cent bottle of water.

as a diamond on carnival with over 35 cruises I do get all of the perks you mentioned and more but you know what i have more then paid for every one of them.

Another no brainer benefit that would cost them nothing but would feel as added value for a loyal customer. In fact, you can give a measly $5 which would ENTICE someone to use the machines and then spend MORE of their own money. I for one have never played any of the arcade games, but if you gave Plats & Dia some measly free credit I was definitely use it, get hooked, and spend my OWN money.

I can't remember the last time that I picked a cruise because of the loyalty perks offered - because I never have. I pick my cruises based on destination. If it happens to be on one of the cruise lines that I receive lots of loyalty perks that is a nice bonus... I cruised before I had earned loyalty perks and I would continue to cruise if every cruise line took them away.

 

When it comes to Carnival Platinum VIFP perks I appreciate things like: free laundry, priority check-in & boarding, priority debarkation, and priority water Shuttle boarding. My wife likes the complimentary drink, bottle of water, & "Chocolate Delight". We have never cared about the rest.

We don’t select cruises strictly based on loyalty perks, but once we decide on the destination and time of year, perks enter into the equation.  For instance, when we were looking for an 8-nighter to the ABCs, the 1-2 free (Diamond) drinks every evening on Royal represented a savings of roughly $200 to $400.  That is the only drinking we do, so there were no drink packages considered.  That helped push us towards the Adventure of the Seas.

They have value to me. I don't care what it "costs" carnival. The priority boarding has great value to me. The free laundry has value to me. The party has value to me. The BOGO free casino contest has value to me. The priority tendering has value to me. The priority debarking has value to me. etc. You add them all up and the program has value to me. And the thousands I spend on the cruise is for the cruise, not the benefits.
