Hi

cruising on emerald next year to Alaska (first time on princess)

Before when we cruised with NCL you could play the slots with cash and cash out any winnings at the end of the night.

Is it possible to do this on princess as it seems to me that you use your room card or medallion to load machine or collect payouts

thanks

You can put cash in the machine to play but if you have any left when you quit playing that goes into your account and you have to go to the cashier to get the cash from your account.

To be clear: when you "cash out" from the slots the money is banked into the Casino account you set up when you first insert your card into any machine, before you put your money in. If you are ahead at the end of the night (or whenever you finish your session) just present your card at the Cashier's window and  you will receive your cash.

Any positive balance from the Casino does not go into your shipboard account to be used to pay off your folio charges. If you forget to cash out at the Cashier the final evening the money is gone.

Very important point. On our last cruise I noticed the phone had a blinking light (we generally stick the phone in a drawer or being the TV to get iti out of the way). I checked the message and it was the casino reminding me to cash out my account.

Many thanks for the replies

As I see it then I create a casino account before I play then load the account either from my onboard account or by cash at the slot, then just keep using cash any winnings being loaded to the casino account then make sure I cash out last night

For 2 upcoming cruises I have more onboard credit than I can use.  Can I load it to my casino account and then cash out and if so how can I do that?

They really want you to play a bit before cashing out. Deposit your extra early in the cruise. Hit the slots here and there throughout the cruise. Who knows, you may actually win something. Cash out at the end of the cruise.

On Caribbean Princess your funds went into the players account but you had to get a ticket from the slot machine and then take that ticket to the cashier's cage.  They were unable to directly cash out the account at the cage.  In the past have always just cashed out at the cage on the last night.

But you can always march on over to the PSD and hand them the cash to deposit into your account.  Extra step, but it works.  Not only that, but if you tend to leave casino later in the evening, the PSD is not at all busy.

fishywood's point was that you must cash out with the casino cashier because the money was not in the shipboard account.

Can I ask when your experience was? We were on the CB from November 25 to January 2 and didn't have to do that. You just tapped your medallion and they gave you the money from your players account.
