Premier Cruise on Carnival

I just booked a cruise in February from a Premier Package on Carnival through my PVP.  It is a decent price and offers several perks per my PVP.   One discrepancy I would  like to know is the drinks on us that is offered with the package.   My PVP stated you could go to the casino bar and order drinks.....a post from  this board stated you had to be actively playing and could only be ordered through a server.   I actually prefer the bar as once they get to know you they take really good care of you, but still not a deal breaker.

 

Any input from anyone who had taken advantage of a Premier Package would be much appreciated.....thanks in advance!!!!!!

Your PVP is wrong.  The official policy is you have to be actively playing and order from a server.  You may occasionally get lucky ordering at the bar if you've become friendly with a particularly bartender, but don't count on it. 

 

On a Premier cruise the servers tend to overlook the "actively playing" requirement a little more, especially if you're sitting next to someone you're with who is actively playing or if you're clearly waiting for a machine.  If you've been regularly tipping for drinks, they become much more willing to overlook the requirement.

I have gone to the bar lots of times and gotten drinks when the servers were so busy it would take forever. So yes, you can go to the bar, I have never had a bartender tell me no.

DH went to the bar to get a drink and was told no, you have to be playing then he told the bartender to send over a server so he could get a drink.  I guess it's hit or miss on different ships.

And I have had them tell me no when the servers were that busy. YMMV, but OP shouldn't count on being able to get DOU drinks at the bar.

tips matter, many times bar will say no unless you have gotten to know the crew somewhat. 

Our last premier, drinks were easy to get, slot machines were packed with casino super busy.

Thank all of you so much.....my long time PVP retired and this who they gave me and this is not the first mistake she made.   Probably time for a new one.  I am use to the Cheers package and always tip extra so I should be fine.....thanks for all the input!!!

The rule says you have to be actively playing but Its rarely enforced. Infact, the servers didnt stop giving me drinks even when I wasnt playing.

Rules state that you must be actively playing, however I have been able to order a drink at the bar.   I think it depends on the ship and the bartender.  Perhaps some ships are stricter with the policy than others.

I've seen premier players told no free drinks at the bar by the bartenders.  However, the roving waiters will get to know you during the cruise if you tip them,  You can be anywhere in the casino, playing at a table or machine, watching others play, or standing around waiting for the next drawing and get served by the roving waiters.
