is there still a way to search on boards?

I thought the Search function was OK till I recently was researching specific cabins (by number).  The Search function said " nothing available."

Then I turned to Google.

It listed several entries of those specific cabins....on Cruise Critic.

I've not used the website in a while, and started trying to see if I could search threads - but I don't see how. Can someone direct me to how to search?

Under your user name (upper right hand corner)  there is a search bar. Click on it to open another window for search options.

The old search function worked well. The new-not improved...is beyond MY capabilities.  I get all sorts of things I'm not interested in.  Example... I was looking for Carnival (old way go to carnival board) amount of casino points needed to obtain the DOU aka drinks on us card.  For my sister. Old way at Carnival board search casino and DOU or drinks.    New way, threw me into every casino in every ship and I still don't have that answer...so, I started scrolling in the CASINO board.  STILL don't know the answer and gave up.  Sounds like I should've asked the same search in Google instead.

It really aggravates me now when I see someone smart off...just search!  Uh yeah. I know the data is there, but is like looking for a needle in a hay stack to find these days.

When you were on the Carnival forum did you click on the search bar to open a drop down window?  That drop down gives you multiple options to click on to narrow your search. Works fine for me.

Yes I did use the drop down menu.  Didn't work for me in the above mentioned search, which I still don't know the answer to.  I had many different 'suggestions' in that menu ...to try this AND this...

Glad it is working for you and apparently the majority.  But, it is a major step backwards finding what I need with simple word searches.  If I am in the Carnival board, I don't want the search to include every casino from every cruise line.  Too much to weed through.

Thank you - that was the sort of info I wanted but the search function didn't  take me to forums of Celebrity  - I tried google and it brought me exactly the cabin info I needed. I also had some questions re port of Shanghai but no way I can find a thing until I tried google - which gave me some of the cruise related info I used to always find on Cruise Critic but better sources on TripAdvisor. I think I'm done with CC

I just did a search on the Carnival forum. I clicked on the search bar, selected "this forum" and typed in casino. The search results came up with only Carnival casino info.

Well I'm just telling you... I was unable to find the carnival casino drinks on us info I was looking for while searching... so since you were able to get it to give you only Carnival info...  perhaps you can get the answer... casino DOU points needed?

Kat,

I went to the Carnival forum. Clicked on the Search feature and then This Forum. I put the words drinks on us in the search field and clicked the magnifying glass. A list of 8 results came up.

Hope this will show you what I saw:

https://boards.cruisecritic.com/search/?q=drinks on us&type=forums_topic&item=2663048

All 8 results are various posts on the same thread titled Drinks On Us? and the thread gives you the information you seek.

Hope this helps!

No problem. I got the same results as Kat posted earlier (#12). Have you asked the DOU question on the Carnival forum? I'm not familiar with anything Carnival as we've never cruised with Carnival. Not sure it makes a difference but I'm using a laptop, windows 10, google chrome.
