ecormier Posted August 20, 2019 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2019 Does anyone know if we accumulate bonus points for purchasing Club Orange for our cruise?
Rare 3rdGenCunarder Posted August 20, 2019 #2 Share Posted August 20, 2019 That's a question I haven't seen before. Most people, including me, who have posted about CO were in Neptune Suites, so it wouldn't be an extra charge that would count toward the spending bonus. But I just looked at the Mariner Society FAQs and it does not mention the CO purchase specifically, but if you pay for it, I think it will count. It is not one of the excluded items (casino, cash advance, FCC). I'm sure someone will tell you to call HAL, but CO is so new that I suspect posters here know more than HAL staff.

But is it not purchased prior to embarkation? So, it would not be on your folio/account and it would not be classed as on board spending for the 1 point/$300 spend. It would seem more like an 'upsell' and there is no advantage in a stateroom 'upsell' (unless to a suite).

But if, as you suggest, CO is considered an upsell then I guess it wouldn't count.

HAL is very generous with spend credit.

DaveOKC Posted August 21, 2019 #7 Share Posted August 21, 2019 (edited) I am not certain that you get Mariner points for taking a cabin upsell offer. I do this alot and never noticed it and one time I spent about $1000 for an upsell (pp) and know we did not get 7 credits for it (we only got 2 for the entire cruise). You definitely DO NOT get Mariner points for an upsell as they never show up on your onboard account. On the other hand, any other purchases such as pre-paid gratuities, pre-paid excursions, pre-paid restaurants, etc do show up on your account as both a debit and a corresponding credit, making them eligible for Mariner points. oceanmom Posted August 21, 2019 #9 Share Posted August 21, 2019 Hmmm, none of my pre-paid purchases show up on my on-board statement (for a cruise that ended 3 days ago) although they have been included in the calculation for Mariner points based on past experience. The items that have shown up in the past as both a debit/credit have been HAL promotional items although this time only the gratuities did but not the internet credit nor the Dine-around package--both included in the Early Booking Bonus. No, they don't show up on the onboard statement. I'm always surprised at the number of bonus points I get because I look at my statement but forget about the money I spent in advance booking tours.
vms Posted August 23, 2019 #11 Share Posted August 23, 2019 If cabana purchase pre-cruise gets points (and it did for me), I see no reason why Club Orange wouldn't, but I have no experience with that one to personally confirm.
KirkNC Posted August 23, 2019 #12 Share Posted August 23, 2019 I would think it should but don’t know factually.
