Time for us to leave!

I don’t know why I was so excited to watch...I was super excited.. I guess too many Below Deck episodes 😂

First thing I thought of was Captain Sandy saying you never let the bow lines touch the water.  I guess mega ships have different standards from mega yachts😂

Check our how close the guy is to the edge..😱

LaCucina for dinner tonight.  I really slacked on the pictures tonight.  For dinner I had bresaola, inslata con pere, and sea bass.  Doug had spaghetti carbonara.

Can anyone one guess what Sara had?  If you said risotto, you win the prize!

This is when the trip begins to go sideways...

We decide we want to sit outside.  Minutes after we are seated,  the manager comes out and says, they are closing the waterfront due to weather and would we like to move inside.  We decided to stay outside.  We were advised that if we wanted to move inside, just let them know.  It was like having the restaurant to ourselves.

After dinner, Sara disappeared with her friends.  Doug and I went exploring

Welcome to Harvest Caye aka the NCL pool

I have to say, I wasn’t impressed.  There wasn’t any culture.  Same typical port shops and only a couple local vendors.  I bought some really cool cricket Christmas ornaments.

Once the pool became overcrowded, we left.

Doug in front of an iguana. 😂😂😂

The required handstand!

We went to relax in the Haven.

Let me just tell you Davidette and Raymond are the best!  Bespoke is amazing.

When Davidette wasn’t at the bar, I settled for a gin and tonic with grapefruit and juniper berries.  I was speaking to one of the waiters a little later and was telling him Davidette promised me a watermelon drink that was light and refreshing.  Next thing I know Raymond has made me a watermelon drink that is light and refreshing. Not embarrassed to say I had two drinks at the same time🍸🍸

No handstand in town center as Sara was hangry...if you have a gymnast you will understand. The diva snickers commercials got nothing on a hangry gymnast!

Lunch was next...trust me if you have a weak stomach...skip this post!

Frank took us to a local restaurant near where he lives.  Lunch consisted on a margarita for me, Salvavida beer for Doug and a sprite fore Sara.  I had shrimp, fried plantains, salad and beans & rice.  Doug had....brace yourself....iguana!

The locals we talked to felt iguana was a step above chicken🤢. Doug actually enjoyed it.  He said there were a lot of little bones and it had a fishy chicken taste...he said he’d order it again.  I couldn’t get past the skin...

You may have noticed Sara didn’t eat..  Well, Frank shared with us that fishing was the top income producer on the island followed by tourism... Seems there is a type of barracuda that can be caught off the island that is poisonous.  The way they tell if it is safe to eat, they put a piece of the fish near an ant hill.  If the ants eat it and live, it’s safe for humans.  Needless to say...Sara decided she wasn’t hungry.

I would try the iguana...

At Sara's age - no way...

Today it's more fun to try new things 🙂

Sara is a gymnast/diver.  She eats more than me.  I’m 5’9” and she’s 4’12” (according to Sara) but really is 4’11.5”😂😂😂😂

love your review so far. As for Roatan, it happens to be our favorite port in the Caribbean and we have been to a lot of them. Every time we visit we find something new to see or do there and very nice people overall.

We really enjoyed the culture.  Something that is missing from Harvest Caye.

I was wondering how harvest Caye was. That’s disappointing to hear. We had one of the last sailings to Belize City. We did zip lining in the jungle and cave tubing, while riding about an hour seeing the land. It was one of the best excursions I’ve ever done.

You can still do those excursions however you have to go to the mainland

FYI..not sure if it's just me but your video's are not showing up.   It gives a format not supported error message.  Pics are showing up fine.

Anyone else?

Hmmm. I see the play arrow but no image.  When I click play it shows the video.
