Next up...Captain’s Cocktail party.

Sara was super excited to meet Joao!  She knows it’s not the guy from Below Deck but it was super cool meeting someone with the same name😊

She was excited to meet the Captain as well!

To top the night off, we met the Sous Chef.  His accent was similar to the chef from Hotel Transylvania.  He was so cool he told Sara little friend that he was the chef from Hotel Transylvania😂😂😂

Ah sorry about that.  They are so cute together, and so sweet of Sara.  She seems like a great kid. 😊

Excursion time!

We hires a private driver with Victor Bodden.  His name was Frank Bodden - no relation😳

First stop Victor Bodden’s Monkey Business - we had sloth priority however, first stop... the monkeys

Things to keep in mind... the monkeys are like frat boys on beer...you never know what can happen!  I had the printout of our ticket in my back pocket.  One of them took it out of my pocket and went to the ledge before I realized what happened!

Earlier in the week, one of the monkeys got out.  They have yet to recapture him.  However, he is very content stealing food from the monkeys who are still in their cages... kinda reminds me of the all you can eat French restaurant on the Breakaway 😂😂😂😂

Time for sight seeing

Frank was very knowledgeable about the island.  She showed us where the pastor of the First Baptist Church lives... one of the biggest houses on the island.  He told us about the schools and the difference between private and public schools.  Fun fact the schools have 3 shifts.  Depending on whether you have to work during the day determines what shift you get.  Also school is out for rainy season ( December and January).  He showed us where the municipal building was.  Super cool drive with Frank.  The best is yet to come!

Lunch was next...trust me if you have a weak stomach...skip this post!

Frank took us to a local restaurant near where he lives.  Lunch consisted on a margarita for me, Salvavida beer for Doug and a sprite fore Sara.  I had shrimp, fried plantains, salad and beans & rice.  Doug had....brace yourself....iguana!

The locals we talked to felt iguana was a step above chicken🤢. Doug actually enjoyed it.  He said there were a lot of little bones and it had a fishy chicken taste...he said he’d order it again.  I couldn’t get past the skin...

You may have noticed Sara didn’t eat..  Well, Frank shared with us that fishing was the top income producer on the island followed by tourism... Seems there is a type of barracuda that can be caught off the island that is poisonous.  The way they tell if it is safe to eat, they put a piece of the fish near an ant hill.  If the ants eat it and live, it’s safe for humans.  Needless to say...Sara decided she wasn’t hungry.

Now it’s time for shopping!

Frank brought us to this beautiful overlook.  See the Breakaway in the distance? There were some local merchants that we looked at their merchandise.  All the merchants had the same mass produced stuff.  We went shopping in the town center.  The prices were significantly less than the locals for the same mass produced stuff.  Victor Bodden Monkey Business also had the same mass produced stuff for double the port store costs.  They had a stuffed sloth for $50!  Same animal on amazon for $15!

Listened to a little music 🎵

No handstand in town center as Sara was hangry...if you have a gymnast you will understand. The diva snickers commercials got nothing on a hangry gymnast!

Total day cost:

$90 driver & Monkey Business

$30 tips

$42 lunch

memories made...PRICELESS
