Serenade of the Seas aft staircase: crew only?

We're booked on Serenade of the Seas in an aft cabin. My husband says he's read online that the aft staircase on this ship is for crew only. I can't find anything that would support or refute that. Can anyone who's been on this ship comment?

When you stay Aft, you need to be resourceful. 

We have Jewel next fall for 25 days. I may hang a plaque.

Freedom has an aft shortcut as well. 

I'm hoping Allure has one to get from 8 to 7.
