Why stay on land when you can set sail on the open seas and enjoy Autumn’s ghostly celebration aboard a ship? Every Carnival cruise that sails in October will give you a chance to enjoy the Halloween festivities that go on every year. From costumes and candy to events and Halloween-themed activities, the fun never stops on a Halloween cruise! What to Expect Carnival goes all out for Halloween on its cruise ships every year. Take a look at what you can expect on a Halloween cruise, whether you’re traveling with a spouse, family or a group of friends! Costume Parties and Contests Come prepared for serious Halloween costume parties and contests! You’ll want to think about your outfit before you set sail so you can be sure to pack it and have it ready to show off at all the Halloween events. Some people play it low key and others go all out – but whatever your preference, it’s more fun to be in costume at the festive parties. Channel your inner spirit and dress up however you like – you can even get judged for Best Costume! It’s a great way to meet other people aboard the ship and make new friends. Both adults and children are encouraged to bring costumes and take part in the fun! Halloween Décor The whole ship will be decked out with Halloween décor! From pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns to spider webs and ghosts, you’ll find the entire ship is celebrating Halloween with you. The decor helps to keep you in a festive spirit and kids love feeling like they are in a true Halloween fun zone! Trick or Treating Trick or treating isn’t just for land lovers! No matter whether you are cruising to Mexico, Hawaii, the Caribbean, The Bahamas or somewhere else, trick or treating can be part of your Halloween cruise activities! Your ship will have special instructions about where and when to trick or treat so your kids can enjoy it just like they do every year! You can stroll along the ship’s promenade and let them collect delicious candy to enjoy! Pumpkin Carving Halloween isn’t complete without a proper jack-o-lantern! As a guest on a Carnival Halloween cruise, you can come see our master carvers make amazing creations out of pumpkins! They use their skills to turn cute pumpkins into spooky works of art. It’s truly a haunting thing to behold – don’t miss out on the fun! Adult-Only Events The Carnival casino will host Halloween events, too! If you are looking for adult-only fun, head to the casino to try your luck on the tables or just to show off your great costume and grab a drink at the bar. You can also visit one of the many bars on the ship to check out everyone else’s costumes and what kind of Halloween cocktails they are serving up. If you visit an open deck, you might even find yourself howling at the moon at some point! Halloween Trivia will also let you test your knowledge of Halloween-related info. Stuff for Kids If you’re traveling with young ones, you can check out some of the Carnival youth programs, which feature costume contests, dance parties and games for the tiny ghosts and goblins with you. They are fun for the whole family, so bring the whole gang. Ghoulish Fun On select ships, you can also take advantage of the Dive-In Movies Horror Night! If you love scary movies, you can grab a deck chair at the Seaside Theater and take in a Halloween chiller that will scare the daylights out of you! Kids are welcome, but be warned – these movies can get too scary for some! You can also find fun Halloween foods and cocktails throughout the ships and there will be plenty of fun and frightful photo backdrops for you to snap some pics of your great costumes! There is also a festive 18-and-Up Halloween Dance Party on the ship – feel free to come in costume or with no costume and take advantage of the festive celebration that is one of the most popular events of the night!Carnival’s Halloween Month In addition to all the activities and fun on the day of Halloween, Carnival actually celebrates Halloween all October long! Enjoy a shipful of scares for the whole month on every cruise ship that sails in October. The ships aren’t haunted – but they’ve got everything in place to make you wonder if it just might be! Every ship has all the awesome food, drinks, relaxation and recreation you can expect on a regular Carnival cruise – but you’ll also get the added bonus of Halloween costume contests, dance parties and a scary story time. And of course, some warm apple cider and other Halloween snacks and treats. Check out the seriously creepy Halloween parade onboard as well as the pumpkin-carving demos, horror movies and more. There’s also plenty of trick-or-treating, games and fun for kids throughout the whole month. Join us for some truly frightful fun! So who has done one of these? What is it like? RoperDK Posted October 3, 2019 #10 Share Posted October 3, 2019 We leave on the Valor on Halloween day. Hoping they keep the decorations up for a few days. Anyone know if they pull all of the decorations the next day or do they keep them up for awhile?

Wish it was later.

havanadaydreaming Posted November 1, 2019 #16 Share Posted November 1, 2019 I'm jealous. We've only been on one cruise over Halloween (ncl) and it was cool, but less than 1/4 of the people dressed up at all and it looks like Carnival goes above and beyond anything I would have expected. (I was Goofy at walt Disney world in early 90s. I went as a homemade Goofy...had everything pretty spot on except the head. my wife went as Cruella de Ville and she was spot on!) simmingdenise Posted November 2, 2019 #17 Share Posted November 2, 2019 I've cruised twice on Halloween and both times they've had all the decorations down and everything back to normal by the following morning.
Dixe Lee Posted November 3, 2019 #18 Share Posted November 3, 2019 Just off the Fantasy and Halloween was really celebrated in style We wore costumes Count and Countess Dracula 🧛♂️ and we had a wonderful time We did not know that there would be a costume contest Competing categories were junior cruisers best lady best guy and best group We were amazed at the thought and effort people put in to their costumes. KISS band won best group and did that threesome look terrific they deserved to win The crowds decided the winners Lots of extra fun and did not cost anything more
Garth2 Posted November 19, 2019 #19 Share Posted November 19, 2019 You may also expect adults behaving like children, including extra drunkenness and noise in the hallways in the middle of the night. I wouldn't book a cruise during Halloween or spring break, or a three-day weekend booze cruise.

Guess you are just saying what you think not what you know. We do Carnival Halloween cruises every year since 1995. Booked for 2020 and 2021. Never have we seen anything different than normal. We are in our 70s and enjoy every one. It is fantastic to see how so many go way out in costumes. Everyone is ready to have their picture taken. Usually ends up on the Lido deck by the pools for the winner and a great dance party. Starting about 5:00PM they start the usual walking back and forth on the promenade deck. Great for taking pictures and seeing all the fantastic outfits. As with any Carnival cruise there are always a few that over indulge. However this last one on the magic. Not at all. No problems at all and a fantastic time for all. Guess you are a Celebrity or Princess lover. That is fine. So are we. Sit back and relax. But you also must say. Even on those ships. Overindulgence does happen.

ctkathchick Posted November 28, 2019 #22 Share Posted November 28, 2019 We did Carnival for Halloween a few years it was the best cruise. Plenty of people including us also decorated our doors for the week and it was alot of fun just walking around during the week looking at decor. They also had a contest and parade for best costumes. So much fun. And by the way no drunk idiots lol
