Staying in Houston night before?

Would there be any issue with staying in Houston rather than taking a late night Uber to Galveston the night before? I assume traffic won’t be great but if we left first thing in the morning is that safe to make it on time?

What day of the week are you sailing out of Galveston? Traffic from Houston to Galveston on a Saturday or Sunday morning is generally not as congested as the commute on a Friday afternoon.

I've done it before. Had a 45min-1hr drive to the port the next day. It wasn't bad.

Were you near HOU (Hobby Airport) which is much closer to Galveston or IAH (Bush Intercontinental) which is much farther away?? What day of the week? As others have said, the answers to those questions can make a big difference.

Commutes to here in Galveston from the south side of the city are easy. If you haven't already booked travel then search hotels in Webster 77598 or Pasadena 77505. Both have no fewer than a dozen hotels built in the past two years in safe areas with dining close by. There is a new Hampton Inn in 77505 along with a Home 2 Suites, Residence Inn and lots more.

The travel time to Galveston the next morning would be 40-50 min at posted freeway speeds.

We are coming in by 6:30 next Friday and Uber to Galveston for the night for a Saturday departure.

Would rather be IN Galveston as opposed to trying to get there

Friday night should be good pricing for off season .
