LSKC, there are two ways that I know of that one can find offers for Canadians.  The first one you can find if you log into your AMEX account and scroll down to offers.  I have never seen an offer related to a cruise in that section.  The other place that you can find information is my searching AMEX and Cruise Privilege Program.  Unfortunately, I don't see Celebrity listed.  I haven't checked the AMEX booking site, but other offers might be available if you book directly through AMEX.

hm.. this is how the casino obc charge showed up on my Costco Visa the last time i did it:

CELEBRITY CRUISES MIAMI FL $500.00

PHONE NUMBER: FOLIO NUMBER:

ARRIVE: 00/00/00 DEPART: 00/00/00

the arrive and depart dates might be what amex will use to deny the $150?

The Celebrity offer is based on when you make a payment of at least $500, between 11/15 and 12/31... not the sailing date.

For those of you who have added the AMEX offer, has anyone tried making a $500 purchase through Celebrity's online Cruise Planner to see whether you receive a confirmation email from AMEX that the offer has been redeemed?

I realize that the fine print says that it's only valid for cruise reservations, but the World's Leading Cruise Lines (WLCL) offer through AMEX, which lists similar restrictions, still works with Princess when purchasing OBC.

how long does it take for the Amex confirmation email to arrive usually?

and how easy is it to cancel the brought items in cruise planner?

(buy stuff from cruise planner, then cancel if the email confirmation doesnt come?)

my point is that the offer is for  cruise reservations only.

so if my arrive and depart dates are 0/0/00, then that might be a red flag to amex and deny the $150.

I think that Celebrity Cruises as the merchant should be enough for it to work.

About three to five days for me. First any charge appears on my Amex account as pending.  After it it stops showing as pending they send the confirmation but I am not sure how long after it stops being pending as I don't check my account every day.

If the offer is working the way it really should, the email should arrive as soon as you do the charge. Then, shortly after it posts to the account (1-2 business days after the transaction), the offer should disappear from the list of added offers, and the actual credit should show up within 1-2 days. Sadly, many offers these days have not been generating the email, leaving you to have to wait for the offer to disappear and get credited.

If it's any consolation, they stopped letting people add offers to more than one card per person. If you have an authorized user, you can add the offer on one of their cards as well to do it more than once.

I used to add offers to as many of my cards as I could. I have 20 separate cards across 7 accounts between myself, my wife and my kids. I did VERY well on some of the HAL offers, not to mention others!

Just got confirmation of two AMEX deals (less than 48 hours after spending):

"We appreciate you using your Amex Offer at Celebrity. You'll be rewarded with a $150.00 statement credit, which will automatically be applied to your statement if your purchase meets the offer terms."

and

"Thank you for using your American Express® Card ending in XXXXX" at CARNIVAL CRUISE LINE RSVR. If your purchase meets the offer terms, you will have successfully redeemed the offer.

Neither of them have posted a credit so far, but in my experience if they detect and send an email this early I'm going to get it.

If you travel a lot, this card waaaaay more than pays for itself.  I'm (spitballing) up ~$3K using it this year.

Was this purchase towards an actual sailing, or did you purchase items through the Cruise Planner?

Did you use the card to pay for cruises or something else like OBC?

What card? There are plenty of no-fee AMEX cards that got these offers. I loaded them to my Blue Cash Preferred card which is $95/year, but they gave me $150 to upgrade to it and I get 6% back on grocery purchases. All of my other AMEX cards are no-fee but I don't currently use them so it would take me a while to get to the threshhold required to cash out rewards if I loaded to them.

AMEX Platinum.  It's normally $550 a year, but I get A $150 discount (because I have company-provided AMEX travel and p-cards), so my annual fee is $400.  I usually recoup that in the first month or two; the rest is just gravy.  The only other card I've seen with similar benefits is the Chase CSR.  Great card, but doesn't align with my home airport.

CSR (which I currently have after having cancelled it for a year) is "only" $150 after the $300 annual travel credit. You get the airport lounge access and other benefits, and 3% back on dining and travel, which is worth 4.5% when redeemed for travel thru their portal.

Strictly cruise fare.  Paid off a $500 chunk of two upcoming 2020 cruises on Celebrity and Carnival.  Gonna see if an online purchase for a spa treatment on Princess codes right to get the WLCL bonus.

I suspect you can get the perk by buying OBC on your paid for cruise.  There is a WLCL thread in HAL forum

Yeah, the Amex is pretty similar. You need to pay attention to the programs to maximize.

For me, I do get back my $550 and then some.

- Free Gold card for my wife and daughter (one benefit when they raised the fee to $550)

- All 3 of us get reimbursed for the $100 Global entry fee

- $200 in airline reimbursement (we use towards the early bird fee or buy e gift certificates)

- $200 in UBER (at first I hardly used this until I realized it also works with Uber eats)

- Gold level for Marriott and Hilton

- Status with auto rental companies (National Executive, Hertz Gold, Avis)

- Priority pass and lounges at airports

- Double warranty

- Amex offers $$$

- Membership rewards $$$

- Travel agency/concierge

I believe these are the main benefits for me and I do better than break even on the actual $$$'s.

Not to mention the somewhat "intangibles."  I've had some amazing no-cost room upgrades booking through AMEX FH&R.  I was upgraded on check-in to a $640/night room for 3 nights (from a $280 room).

I have an AMEX Platinum card and I have the offer for Celebrity.  My hubby is an authorized user and he doesn't have the Celebrity offer.  Is that common that the offers would be different?

I've seen it happen at times. In this case I know that my 3 AU's and I all had the offer. Did you look for it on your husband's card at the same time as you loaded it to yours? If not, it might have gone NLA (no longer available). Or does your husband maybe have over 100 offers available so you're not seeing hths one?
