Still not allowed. I seen a few people sit a table, wait for their food and then walk away with the food. not sure if that is allowed or not but it could be option depending on what you order

Stay classy..

I really doubt the staff cares about that. They just do not want to deal with people who want to order a meal to go, because it would be too popular and they could not control it.

Back in the day of Blue Lagoon on Jewel class ships they were able to make food to-go and it came out very quickly (within 10 minutes) and came ready with the domes over the food and silverware and all. I wonder if the re brand to O'sheehans has made the restaurant much more popular on the jewel class.

I've done this plenty of times.  Honestly, this is the first time I'm hearing that you're not allowed to take your food out of O'Sheehans.  I've never specifically asked for it to be to go, but it comes out in those little wire baskets so I just grabe the basket by the handle and go to my room.  No one ever said anything to me or tried to stop me.  It's usually around 2 or 3 in the morning (after the clubs/casino tables close) if that makes a difference.

  • 1 month later...

On the Gem last week, folks asked about - apparently - in the MDR - and we watched them leave with takeout food, plastic cover & utensils/napkins included after they finished their own dinner (only our guess - cabin.mates feeling seasick ??) on different days.  Ditto for OSH takeout ... I think if one ask, especially when they aren't busy.   While dining in Cagney's, waiters put the dessert on a plate with cover to go, as an option.

NCL's policies & onboard practices seemed to swing and changed from time-to-time, YMMV - mega/+ ships might handle it differently.  Unofficially, folks were doing it.

WHAT ?

WHAT !

What are you trying to do eliminate the Room Service Charge ($7.95)  ?

Well there goes the profit margin for this cruise !

Another crowd pleasing move by NCL

Seriously O'Sheehan's is no doubt not set up with plastic food covers - those wire baskets with red and

white checkered napkins and then the issue of the plates silverware needing to be restocked -

but never the less the customer is always wrong !

Go up a few decks higher to the Buffet and haul all the food you want back to your cabin - no problem here !

Something about the logistics of restaurant utensils - - -
