As expected, RCCL has cancelled all cruises through May 11, 2020: https://www.*****.com/2020/03/24/royal-caribbean-extends-suspension-of-cruises-additional-30-days-due-coronavirus?fbclid=IwAR11reHK14HQCEBgc9cobK_fzE6lYqY_RMhYGAviK3HROXPgKOW-OKYUSyE

Chris Wong says he is officially going home in 2 days.

I also read that the virus was still on surfaces on the Diamond Princess 17 days after it was disembarked in Yokohama.   We are all going to have to do tons of cleaning of any public spaces to get rid of this virus.   https://nypost.com/2020/03/24/coronavirus-found-on-diamond-princess-surfaces-17-days-later/

Kim, I just saw this on the Royal Caribbean press release page. I immediately thought of you.

Here’ the link. I attached a screenshot below.

I get how you’re feeling. We just cancelled our long awaited Key West land trip today. I have been wanting to go there for the longest time. We got the perfect schedule for us, and got into the resort we really wanted after years of trying. When I heard the Keys were being completely shut down for a minimum of two weeks, I knew our plans were out the window. Maybe next year.

I hope that once cruising is able to resume, you will be able to get a good price on an Oasis class ship. I’m sure you and your family will love it as much as we do.

Kim, I am so sorry to hear about your bad news on your foot.  How very disappointing.  I pray that you get answers quickly and are able to move forward.  Unfortunately, with this coronavirus, everything is in very slow motion right now.  Hang in there and know that we are all praying for you.

Thanks so much. I appreciate it.

Awful to see this news about your foot.  I guess the bright side is you know the problem.  Crazy how such a small incident can turn into something so big.  Thank you again for your review.  You really are an inspiring person— I know you definitely inspired me to be more adventurous.  Wishing you positive energy as you go through your next steps towards fixing that foot.  Never give up.

Thanks so much. Glad you enjoyed the review and thanks for the kind words.

Yea we were just talking about it last night and then my daughter (Kendra) got a notification about the cancellation. I knew it was coming but a girl can still dream right? 😄

I did read about the Diamond Princess. So sad how many people have died from those 2 cruises and the amount of people that test positive. Yikes.

It has been a very long road and I'm still looking for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow at this point.

Yea Kendra got notifications from RC and our agent last night. We were so bummed but glad they are taking precautions and taking everything seriously. Safety first!

Kendra already had another cruise picked out within 2 hours of the cancellation. LOL  That's my girl!  Amazing how we got a great deal for a Spring Break cruise (unheard of) and now with all the cancellations, to go later the price is outrageous. I know they are going to go even higher too because everyone is going to be rebooking and I'm sure they have jacked the prices up to compensate for the loss of $$ during this time. Just a crappy situation. 😞

So sorry to hear about your Key West trip. I have only been there once before, by cruise ship, back in the early 90's. I'm sure so many things have changed and I was hoping to some day go back and check it out. Hopefully you'll get to reschedule next year. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Good job, Kendra! I guess she really does take after you. 😀. I would have thought you would be the one who would already have something else picked out. So, details, please! What cruise are you going on?

We aren’t planning anything else until after things settle down. It was so hard for me to cancel Key West. I don’t want to go through that again. Hopefully, our October 4 Harmony cruise will be a go.

Hoping to do Key West at about the same time next year, late April, May, maybe June. Not booking yet though.

It has been over a month since I've been on CC and know you had the Oasis cruise coming up, but forgot when it actually was.  Usually I'm on here and would have been doing research for what to do in the ports we're supposed to visit, but I haven't been.  Seeing that some ports were denying cruise ships due to fears of Covid19 and now that it's here with the social distancing now in place, the question is will we cruise or will it be cancelled?  I know RCCL has cancelled cruises up to mid-May now and I think I heard another cruise line also cancelled, but we're still waiting on the official word from Carnival.  Carnival was supposed to give an update sometime today, but now they are saying that update won't be until Monday.  We're scheduled to sail May 9, but the way things are going, I'm pretty sure that our cruise will also be cancelled.  Bummer!  At this point I won't be upset if they do cancel.  It's definitely not worth the risk and I know we all need to do our part to help flatten that curve.  And IF we sailed, there's that possibility that we'd be on an 8 day cruise to nowhere and you and I are on the same page with ports vs. sea days.  I just don't know if I could really enjoy that.  If Carnival cancels, we will get a refund so not like we'd be out of the $$$.

Our little problem is the airfare, which we booked this past January to get to FFL for the cruise.  We will be able to cancel but would have to use that $$$ for a flight before next January.  If we can't get a refund for the flight, my hubby and I are considering a cruise out of LA on Panorama to the Mexican Riviera in the late fall of this year.  We've done that itinerary once before, in Jan. 2000, and all I had was the film camera and you know I also love getting pics.  It was very pretty there and I'd definitely love a redo.  IF we can get refund on the airline tickets or credit for a flight to San Juan (still booked on Fascination out of San Juan in Oct. 2021), we'd rather do that since my husband works at the headquarter office of a large hotel chain.  Due to Covid19, just like a lot of other business, they are hurting because of all of this.  We're fortunate that he got a reduced work week vs. being furloughed for 60 - 90 days.

I was so sorry get on here today and see the update with the not so good news on your foot/ankle.  That really bites, but a least now you know WHY.  Hope this will get resolved for you soon so you can get that behind you and back on the right path.  Been also thinking of you guys since I know your husband has his business and I know that all businesses are hurting right now.  Other than your foot, I hope all is well with all of you.

mitsugirly, thinking of you and yours.  hoping that you will soon get back to good mobility and health with regard to your limb break.  I know that you and your family love to travel, cruise and even though I have not been able to do so in recent years I have always enjoyed your reviews.  Looking forward to the day that you and your family, and so many of us can all get back to cruising and travelling.  take care of yourself and yours, and will always look forward to your next review whenever that may be, but mostly just make this time matter by getting you better.

Well, we haven't talked anymore on the subject. We were thinking of Symphony OTS for the end of May but now I'm doubting that they will even be back on schedule again by then. I'm going to take a look at other cruises during the summer and see. I just don't know at this point now.

It was supposed to be for April 12th. :( I was so bummed when they cancelled but knew it was coming. I heard a rumor the other day that Carnival was considering cancelling the rest of the year??? That can't be so is it?  We booked our flight using points so as soon as we cancelled it just returned our points. So, we got lucky with that.

Yea the foot and ankle is still not going well. :(  I have yet to get a phone call from the foot specialist. I have a feeling I won't until all this blows over. I'm still in so much pain and still have so much swelling by mid day to evening. I look like I have elephant legs.

Yea they have a stay at home order for the last 1+ weeks but it doesn't apply to our business and it's still booming. I'm kinda shocked with what all is going on at this time that people are still out spending a lot of money. But, I'm not complaining.

Thanks so much for your thoughts and checking in on me. Take care! :)

Thanks so much. I just feel like it's never going to end. :(   I'm looking forward to that day as well. Sakari is so bummed about not getting to go and it was going to be her birthday.

You take care too.

Now I remember where I read about Carnival. Check this out (although not "official" yet).

I was thinking your cruise was to be in April.  I know how you were really looking forward to sailing on Oasis and I was looking forward to your review.  We'd love to try Oasis one day and that would be the one to experience for the ship, but some decent ports would definitely be appreciated.  So happy to hear your business is still doing well.  Isn't Sakari's birthday in April, usually around the time you cruise?  Please wish her Happy Birthday and I hope she can find a way to enjoy it.  Social distancing can put a damper on things.  My niece just celebrated her birthday yesterday but she really wished she could have seen her friends, but did make it a point to state that it's "OK because 17 is a boring number anyways".

If Carnival cancelled for the rest of the year,  wouldn't be surprised at this point.  The more I hear about this, the more it sounds like this could go on for quite some time.  Carnival offered their ships to be used as temporary floating hospitals last week for non Covid19 cases to free up hospitals for those with it.  So that could be a reason that they'd cancel for the rest of the year.

https://www.travelandleisure.com/travel-news/coronavirus-carnival-offers-cruise-ships-temporary-hospital

Hoping that this will be over sooner than later and hope you all stay safe.
