Changed original onboard cruise booking - Penalties?

We are changing our onboard cruise booking within a week after arriving home to another date.  First was made rather hurriedly with a lineup out the Future Cruises door and we felt pressure to get on with it.  Does anyone know if the onboard OBC will be transferred to the new sailing or is that booking considered cancelled and we will be assigned the new cabin's perks and no onboard OBC??  Not sure what X will tell us, so it's helpful to know what CC'ers have experienced.

If it was a refundable deposit and you are not past final payment date then you should be able to transfer the reservation to another sailing and retain the extra OBC for booking onboard.   As you mentioned when you reprice the reservation to the new sailing you are only entitled to the regular perks/promos that are in effect for that new sailing.

If it is a non-refundable deposit then there is a penalty of $100 pp to make the change.

Sometimes the obc and /or perks are reduced if you rebook on a transatlantic or transpacific.

When you book on-board you often get an additional OBC because you booked on-board.  That OBC is tied to both the length of the cruise and the itinerary.  If you change your cruise and keep the same booking number, the onboard OBC will transfer to the new cruise...but at the appropriate rate for the new cruise.  Repositioning and trans pacific/atlantic cruises get $100, some cruises get $250....the amount depends on the new itinerary, not the one you originally booked.

I recently transferred a couple on board bookings to a new reservation.    I was able to retain all the OBC's as well as perks.   As others say if the perks are not available on the new cruise e.g. repositioning they you will loose the perks.

Never cancel the cruise.  You want to transfer the booking and keep the same booking number.  Transferring the booking will allow you to keep all of the benefits from the onboard booking.  If it was a refundable deposit you get everything back.  If it was non-refundable deposit you will still need to pay the penalties.
