Captain Castellano of the Emerald Princess did a MAGNIFICENT job of working with the bay pilot and getting the ship out of the berth, into the bay and heading out to sea under the bridge on the night of July 4 th immediately after the 9:30 pm San Francisco Bay fireworks show.  The bay was filled with smaller boats watching the show and it took the Emerald blowing the horn MANY times and inching forward for them to move. It was fascinating to be out on deck to watch the fireworks and our eventual departure through the bay.    Castellano is a knowledgeable captain and a professional, congenial person. Well done, Captain!

There was an '80s cruise and the Caribbean Princess so they had double cruise directors onboard. Therefore he joined Jody Miles (current cruise director of the Caribbean Princess) just for the one cruise.

There was a Carlos that was Rui's right hand and I believe that is who is replacing Rui for the two months.  Carlos went with Mario to be on the Sapphire Princess and I heard that he was then made the Food and Beverage Director.  If you are still on the Emerald when Carlos is there, please say hi to him from is friends Greg and Carolyn Snider.  I'm sure he will remember us and find out where he will be after Rui gets back.

The Carlos that was promoted to F&B Director is Carlos Justina.  His last contract was on the Discovery and is currently at home.  Justina has been slated to be the F&B Director for the new Sun Princess.

The information is correct.  I am so happy for Carlos that he has been given the opportunity to be the DRO.  He has been a real friend on every voyage we have been on and look forward to sailing with him soon.
