Metal Detector Entrance at Hermitage

Is there a walk-through metal detector now?  It is a problem if one has an implant--like a hip replacement?

Yes there is, not sure about implants.  If problem, they should just wand you and didn't your doctor give you an implant ID card with a small photo of the x-ray for such purposes?

It shouldn't be a problem as titanium will not register in a magnetometer and is also safe for getting MRIs.  In the unlikely event  they use an advanced millimeter wave scanner, as they do at most large US airports, then your implant will show up on the image and they will wand you.

I got a card from the doctor after my first knee replacement  in 2014. Didnt get any in 2016 when they did the other knee. Figured they weren't doing it anymore

Have an knee implant too and about half the time at airports I get the wand. Other times sail through. Have a great one! 🙂

There is one but the process is quite lax compared to US airports. There won’t be a problem

I have not been so fortunate. I had a titanium knee implanted in August. Since then, I have set off each magnetometer I have "met" in 2 major airports and two major sports arenas.

My DH had pants with magnetic closures on his pockets and went through twice and finally they did a wand and then he realized it was the pockets!, He won’t wear them now for that reason going through possible detectors. We learned.
