glrounds Posted January 28, 2020 #6 Share Posted January 28, 2020 If the Carnival ships are AT SEA it will have little effect on them, its the coasts and the shallow nature of the sea there that creates the huge destructive surges.

Milly1966 Posted January 28, 2020 #8 Share Posted January 28, 2020 We are on Vista now and were on the ship when it occurred. Definitely knew something happened, but it did not last long. We have heard from people who were on the island that they started closing shops and suspended tender operations. But now tenders are on normal schedule to and from the island. We have not heard of any changes to our next port, Ocho Rios.

marci4tony Posted January 28, 2020 #10 Share Posted January 28, 2020 No tsunami warning per NOAA I did hear of people, in Cayman, that were underwater (diving) when it occurred. That would be a story to tell.

N7786W Flyer Posted January 28, 2020 #13 Share Posted January 28, 2020 On the Conquest at Roatan today. Absolutely no effects that I've noticed. No announcements made relative to the earthquake on the ship's PA. Just another day on a cruise. Garnett

PrincessPatti Posted January 29, 2020 #21 Share Posted January 29, 2020 I live here in Cayman. You definitely felt it. Lasted about 30 seconds. Had another 6.1 hit just before 5PM. Lots of smaller aftershocks since then, but nothing I could feel.
