Does anyone know the range of inside cabin categories? They seem to range from IB to IF.
Which is higher?

IB. 🙂

There is probably only a slight difference in the cost as you move from one inside category to the next one. I suggest you choose a cabin that is more likely to be quiet - passenger cabins above and below. Then consider how far forward or aft the cabin is.

Thx. I was just wondering which inside category is considered better. So, if I book an IF inside guarantee and was assigned an IB inside cabin, is that considered an upgrade?

Yes it is considered better. Usually based on location.

Doesn't matter what cabin type you talk about, the A is always considered the best (IA, OA, BA), and the F the worst.  That said, different people have opinions that differ from what Princess considers better or worse.

Some cabin types have number categories and those are higher than the letter categories.  Again the lower number is the best - according to Princess.

Note that the categories change abruptly so a cabin right next door may be considered a "better" category by Princess and therefore cost more.

Yes, usually either side of a fire door between the various ship sectors: forward, mid-forward, midships, mid-aft and aft.

One thing to look out for though is that a category like IB may be mid-forward and mid-aft on some mid-level decks (so a relatively good location) but also may be midships directly under the pool on an upper deck.

Yes, but strangely they often jump up several subcategories, rather than to the next one.

Like, IF to IC, or BB to BF.

You rarely seem to find IF bordering IE.

True but it's dependent on location. So an IE on some decks, forward and aft, may be adjacent to IBs, with IAs midships. On  lower deck those cabins may be IFs with ICs adjacent.
