Platinum At Last

Congrats!!! My wife will be platinum on our next cruise in March on the Sunrise, and after that cruise, I'll be 5 days away from my platinum, which should be before September this year! At least I'll be able to share in some of her perks this trip in less than 46 days!

If I ever get there, I'll be excited to be platinum too. But I have to admit the benefits aren't overwhelming. Priority check-in and boarding is a big one for people that usually pay for FTTF. But we don't bother and are typically on the ship around noon, so no biggie.

The party sounds like it is just the same party we used to get for gold. So it's hard to be overly excited that they are giving something back that you used to have and they took away.

The strawberry plate, free brunch drink, and gift (depending on whether it's something useful) are nice touches but nothing to get excited about. I've never had enough of a delay at guest services, debarkation, or water shuttles for priority to be much of a benefit. We book way early so always get our dining room choice and time anyway. Don't use the spa or casino.

Laundry would be useful on a long voyage, such as a transatlantic. But for our typical 7 day cruises, we bring enough clothes and I doubt we'd use it.

In short, I want in the club but I don't know why!

I have LOVED being Platinum and two of the perks of getting on ship early and those 3 bags of laundry!!!!  ENJOY!  But, in just 50 days I will be DIAMOND and I am so excited and looking forward to the same two favorite perks of boarding early and unlimited laundry.  It has taken me FOREVER to get to this point.  Again, Congrats and Enjoy being Platinum....

Same here. The hubs has 7 days to platinum.  He says he's content to just ride my coat tail for now.  😁

It's not so much the perks I'm happy about, except for priority boarding.  I can remember my first cruise and seeing people waiting in the special waiting area and thinking too myself that I would never be there.  It's just more of an accomplishment.

John Heald make a comment on his page that there will be changes coming to the VIFP this year since they have over 1 million platinum and diamonds and also looking at changing how the VIFP gifts are distributed or eliminated.

Where is this post of  'over 1 million' statement? That seems very high.

Yay!!! We still have a long ways to go - after next weeks cruise we will be at 33 points! We’ve tried MSC , RC, and Norwegian a few times . I think now we will just buckle down and stay Carnival until we get to 75 points😅😅👍🏻

I don’t think making Platinum or Diamond is much of an accomplishment. In my opinion it just means you are fortunate enough to cruise frequently and you really enjoy cruising on Carnival.

Great. It seems like one of those carrot on a stick things where as you continue to get closer the goal continues to get farther away.

Congrats!!  That's an awesome accomplishment and I'm a little green with envy.

We would have been Platinum by now, but decided to do 2 RCCL and 2 NCL cruises.  I think after our cruise at the end of this month we'll have 65 days, with 11 Carnival cruises.  We got an incredible deal on MSC for our family cruise this summer, so I'm guessing the VIFP program will change and it'll be a long wait for Platinum for us.

To think I started cruising in 2013 just to prove I would hate it and to get my family off my back 😂

For me, it's an accomplishment.  Is it the biggest accomplishment in my life? Heck no. But it is something I wanted to do. We all have our own individual goals.  For me, one goal was to make platinum.  Besides, I was really tired of buying FTTF. 🙂

I am in the same situation - my wife is crossing over when we sail the Panorama in March and I will be 3 days short

We just need to book another  cruise and hope Carnival does not change the VIFP levels before I can sail

DW is taking a "Girl's Cruise" in March, and will be Platinum on that trip.  I will make Platinum on our trip in September.  It has taken us 12 cruises to make Platinum.

It has taken us 12 cruises as well; will finally be platinum on our upcoming cruise on the Horizon in March!  We can’t wait 😁

I've made a couple of girls cruises, that is how I made platinum before the hubs.

We've all been waiting - does it really matter?? I am platinum and at this point don’t care if they change it. I am not loyal to any cruise line anymore and I am just as happy to cruise. If Carnival is the next cruise or something  else the level I am wont change my decision.

I just got off my first platinum cruise. the perks aren't that great but I still appreciated them, especially my cabin being ready early and the free laundry. I did have one woman (a passenger, not an employee) get nasty with me when I went on through the doors to my cabin before 1:30. She made sure to inform me that I wasn't allowed to go to my cabin yet. I just kept right on going. Probably a first time Carnival cruiser and didn't understand about the different loyalty levels or FTTF that give you early access to your cabin.

Congrats on making Platinum. I don't want to be Debbie Downer, but don't rush to get Platinum status. I have been Platinum for 6 years now and every year, a benefit disappears. With Carnival, it doesn't mean a hell of  a lot unfortunately. And sadly.

The only perk I'm excited about is priority boarding.  No more buying FTTF.  They can do away with everything else as far as I'm concerned.

Three things:

priority lines for boarding early, tenders, guest services, and leaving early

Being able to drop luggage off immediately

Free laundry

I don't care about any of the other benefits.  We can almost turn in a bag of laundry per day for our entire cruise. It's so strange not stalking FTTF.
