IPB4IGO Posted February 23, 2020 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2020 There was a thread a few months ago suggesting that HAL was changing its Internet plan so that only one device on an account can access the Internet for the entire cruise. Not one device at a time, but one device, period. In other words, tying the account to the MAC address of whatever device initially signed up for the plan. No more "please log off so I can log on" switching between users on the same account. Has there been any indication that this is actually happening? (I might have an excuse to replace my old travel router with one that had a MAC cloning feature if it's true.)
Rare VMax1700 Posted February 23, 2020 #2 Share Posted February 23, 2020 Used internet on Koningsdam in January and DW and I switched between devices no problem.
Rare kazu Posted February 24, 2020 #3 Share Posted February 24, 2020 You are fine as long as you log off so the other device can get on. It was simply a temporary problem on that ship. No worries 🙂

boze9999 Posted February 24, 2020 #5 Share Posted February 24, 2020 Agreed - Just got off the NS and switched between phone and computer with no problem by logging out. Each device actually prompted you to log out out of your other device in order to log into your new device.
OHCruiser Posted February 24, 2020 #6 Share Posted February 24, 2020 Off the Eurodam 2 weeks ago and seamlessly switched between two phones, a laptop, and a tablet.
Kfrech Posted February 25, 2020 #7 Share Posted February 25, 2020 I'm booked on the Koningsdam for an Alaskan cruise in June. The premier internet package was offered as part of the Explorer 4 promotion. My understanding is that more than one device can be used at a time, without logging off. The difference between my recent Koningsdam cruise and my sailing on the Volendam in November is that this time when logging in and changing device, it asked me if I wanted to add another device in addition to whether I wanted to log out of the other one. If they are trying to sell multi-device plans, that explains the (in my view, justified) crackdown on travel routers.

Ottawa traveller Posted February 25, 2020 #10 Share Posted February 25, 2020 I am on the Zuiderdam. When I signed up for the premium package it asked me if I wanted to sign up for 1,2,3,or 4 devices, all at increasing cost. I signed up for one. However, I can switch devices by logging out of one and logging in to the other.
Wehwalt Posted February 25, 2020 #11 Share Posted February 25, 2020 (edited) I suspect there's a connection with Holland now offering multiple-device plans and the reported blocking of travel routers. Edited February 25, 2020 by Wehwalt
