I am glad for the passengers that Captain Patrick is onboard.  I had a couple of “rough” cruises with him this past summer and he is a wonderful, calming captain in a bad situation.  Good luck to all.  Katherine

Yes, he is very calm.  It is also great that I can understand him clearly [and Zoey, also].  I am not criticizing anyone's accent when they have learned English.  Especially since I am not fluent in another language.  However, It is important that we clearly understand what is going on.  Sometimes I have listened to a Captain's briefing and asked the person next to me what he said.  They often say I could not understand him either.

We are getting timely updates.  The Captain is sympathetic to the islands.  He mentioned some of them do not have the medical facilities for even one of these CV cases.  They have to protect themselves. But, he stated again that we have a few GI cases onboard--hence the cleaning.  However, he said there was no CV or even flu onboard.

So we have a beautiful sea day and we will see whether Dominica will take us.  . . . I seriously doubt it.  But, we will see.😁

We had an excursion in St Martin, too.  The cost will be returned to us.  We are making money instead of spending it with our two refunded excursions.  😏

Yes, such a shame.  We were so close. . . and yet so far. 😕

I so hope you get to go to Dominica.  I envy your positivity, I would be going crazy if I couldn’t get off a ship after 3 days, never mind 5 or 6!  Good luck!

Dragon,

Do you by and chance know the twins working in the dining room?

No, I have not seen them. . . . do you remember their names and/or country? We are on table 342.  It is just 2 tables from the main entrance. So, I do not walk very far into the room.

Yogi and Booboo from India.  Do you dine with Delta?  She may know them.

I was on Grandeur the end of January and the twins are onboard.  They had just returned.  My twin and I always stop to talk to them — twin connection!  They are great servers and very pleasant to speak with. They were assigned to the main dining room.

I will look for them!

I made a small donation to the casino last night.  DH had a little more luck than I did.  I am sure we will visit again.

We are in St Thomas to off load our critical medical emergency. We got 2hrs off shore before we turned around. This is as close as we got to St Thomas. It looked like a good day.

The dock is usually busy with cruises. But not today.

The only vehicles here are police and immigration.

At least you could get on dry land for a bit.  Good luck getting to Dominica.

The only people that got off the ship were a lady in a critical medical emergency and an elderly gentleman.  I assume he was her husband.  The rest of us stayed onboard.  We were there maybe 45 minutes at the pier.  It was long enough for all of us to turn our phones on and call our family since we were in the US.

I misunderstood, I thought you might be able to just go on the pier.  Well, good luck with future ports.

Just to give you guys an update, the Governor of Maryland just closed the cruise port of Maryland.  Hope you guys don't have to go through a 14 day quarantine  when you return.    Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings.

Here is a link.  Doesn't look like the 2nd leg will take place, if this is the case.

apparently there are 2 ships that are exempt, I would imagine the Grandeur is one of them, just need to be screened when returning.  But who knows with how things change hour to hour.

I assume they will want the 14 day self quarantine...unless the Grandeur never makes a stop...
