It appears that the governor has made up my mind for me. I was scheduled to cruise on the Grandeur March 27th. I wasn't sure if I was going to go or cancel. It sure doesn't look like it is going to go at this time. The only problem is that it was a casino comp. So I'm out a free cruise.🤕

Same here.  This was a casino comp that was on a certificate from a fall trip to bermuda.  I spoke with casino royale nothing can be done about that....we lose it.  I was so looking forward to being on grandeur one more time.  She was our first Rcl cruise.

I tried making a mock booking on Carnival and they are still showing bookings.  I got all the way to the payment screen.  If they canceled why are they allowing bookings on the March 15 sailing???

Because updating websites is something that IT has to do and doesn't happen right away.  Regardless, the 15 March cruise is cancelled.  Do you want to go on the 15 March cruise or are you just trying to prove us wrong?  BTW, the 15 march cruise isn't happening.

I figured that we would just lose it. I do have one last Grandeur cruise on November 28th. If everything has settled down by then we'll be worried about a lot more important things than cruises. My brother just turned seventy last Sunday and with his underlying medical issues they wouldn't let him on the ship.

I’m just trying to get an idea of  if this March 19 RC cruise will be canceled for sure.  We have a lot of things to take care of if it is.  Until there is a final word on this cruise I feel like I am in limbo.  I hate that feeling but I refuse to cancel. So I guess I will just have to get used to it.

I'm sorry you are in limbo but it's quite clear that the measures being taken will be in effect for at least two weeks, the length of time the schools are going to be closed, and it could be longer than that. I am very sorry but I have no hope that a cruise scheduled for 19th March will proceed.

I am due to sail on the 14 May on Grandeur but I have no idea if this will go ahead either. I've heard from two sources that the period for the port closure was specified as '2 months' but I can't actually find that anywhere, and on the government documentation it just says 'until the state of emergency is rescinded'. And who knows what that actually means!

I imagine Royal staff are working hard to reach out to impacted customers, in the order in which the sailings will take place... But they also now need to ensure the health and safety of their CURRENT passengers who are actively on board the ship and will need to go through health screenings before they can disembark. So they clearly have a range of priorities.

I'm hoping that whatever the decision is, that I can just get my money back at this point. A FCC doesn't really help me when I have two other cruises already booked and who I'd rather move the money to, instead of having to book a third cruise and lose access to my money now.

Anyway... I'm following this thread to see if anyone else hears more about what's going on and any compensation/refund options offered. The hold times to call Royal right now are outrageous so I'm not going to spend time doing that just yet.

You can apply an FCC on an existing booking.

We are in the same boat.  We have two other cruises booked.  Both are paid for so FCC is not something that I would like over my money back.  Yes, I may book another one before 2021 but I would rather not feel pressure to book anything else before that time.

We are not local so you can understand that we need time to cancel things.

Carnival has already announced 100% FCC and $600 per cabin OBC for this upcoming cruise that was supposed to leave on Sunday.  That's more than generous considering it's not in their control at all.

So you get a FCC and not a refund? Do you have the option for a refund?

Well, we're not booked on that cruise (or any Carnival right now), but my understanding is it's FCC is if you rebook, otherwise, they'll give full refunds.  But, the incentive to take the FCC and rebook is the $600 OBC.

Sorry to trouble you but wondered if you have any knowledge if cancelling the second person on the reservation before requesting the FCC will result in the FCC being in one name only? My understanding is that FCC's are split between the two names on the account, but this cruise I booked and paid for completely but is for a friend and I, normally I travel with my DH but we were doing this just the two of us together. All other cruises are for me and my DH and so the FCC in my friend's name wouldn't help.

You'd have to rebook/reprice the booking to a solo before cancelling to get the FCC in one name only - you'd have to do the math on that to see if it makes sense to do so.

Did you already cancel the cruise?  If not, call and switch "your friend" to "DH" before cancelling.  FCC will then be issued to DH.
