Summit or apex ?

It all depends.  Do you love a balcony? Take Summit.  Will you have lots of clothes to hang? The E class closets are woefully small.  Do you like to lie on the bed and watch tv? Summit televisions swivel, edge tv’s don’t and it’s too soon to know about apex.  Is on board shopping something you enjoy?  E class ships have high end, expensive shops, not much in the way of cheap souvenirs.  Do you want ballroom dancing? Take Summit.  Is a forward-facing lounge important to you? Apex doesn’t have one.

We got back from the edge in January. Beautiful ship but I really missed quiet lounge areas for a pre dinner drink. We could never get a seat in the main bar before dinner and it was very loud. Not sure if that is important to you.

This.

I feel that the Edge is overhyped and underperforms.

On Edge you lose a bunch of the views and indoor public spaces.

Planning cruise mid jan 21 for wife’s 65th been on summit 3 times and loved it !would apex be a disappointment even though new ship?

If you are into the "wow" factor, go with Apex.  If you want a classic and impressive cruise, Summit is the ship.  Plus, you will probably save yourself some $$$.  Consider moving up a grade on the Summit to make it special.   Enjoy!
